Dragon Age Inquisition

Really can't get on with the controls on this. Am I getting old and everyone's using gamepads for these games now?

Why do I have to hold a mouse button for freelook? Have I missed a setting?

Im a KBM'er 99% of the time or whenever possible and Im playing this on a pad. I hate the hold mouse to look and find controls cumbersome at best but the pad feels natural

^ That.

I'd much prefer Keyboard/Mouse (and spent a decent amount of time playing with the settings to try and get it how I'd like it) but ultimately it's very obvious it was designed around the pad.

33 hours in and I've not seen any of these bugs that some of you mention.

It's like you go out of your way to find them. This is a fantastic game in many, many ways. The best 30 quid I've spent on a game in years

I agree it is a fantastic game but if you're 30 odd hours into this game and you've not even seen the minor bugs then you can't really have been paying much attention.
The banter bug itself is the fairly obvious and everyone I know has seen at least one minor graphical glitch.
You don't have to go out looking for these bugs when a lot of them are fairly obvious while others are slightly less obvious, yes it is a fantastic game but it doesn't mean you need to turn a blind eye to the amount of bugs in this game.

Hopefully a patch comes out soon for my second play through!

Not really, am around 70 hours in and have seen maybe 1 or 2 minor bugs that's it. I'm not saying the bugs aren't there as they obviously are, because Bioware wouldn't be fixing them. But the game is no where near as rife with bugs that a couple of people have said in this thread. Though one of those persons picks apart every game with a fine tooth comb so I tend to take his posts with a pinch of salt anyways :)

Ah ok fair enough, I thought you were just saying there's no obvious bugs and people were just going out there way to look for them.

To be honest near the start I only found a few bugs but the longer I stayed in Skyhold the more the bugs became visible.

I am really looking forward to the next chapter in this though especially after that ending!

Can someone please sell me this game please (not literally lol), I am really on the fence and really not sure whether to buy it as you cannot seem to get it for under £35 so its hardly throw away money like most other PC games are.

Is it like the Mass Effect Games?
Is it free roam like Skyrim?
Do you need to play the previous Dragon Age Games first, or can I just jump into this one?
Is it similar to the Witcher games ? I really couldn't get on with those so if its like them I probably wouldn't bite.

Thanks

It is like Skyrim, but not completely free roam. It is split in to different zones. There are main story quests and then side quests that are pretty much standard mmo stuff. It is similar to mass effect in terms of building a squad and getting to know them.

It is a bit similar to the Witcher games, but more of an rpg in the classic sense.

You don't need to play the others, but the game does follow on. I would recommend playing Origins anyway, as it is excellent.

Anyone having issues technically with this game?

Ive put a 970 GTX in place of my 2 580's and ive noticed after a couple of hours of gameplay the frames dramatically drop to a slideshow effect. Its happened twice today and its pretty damn annoying (last was during a dragon fight!).

From what I can understand my graphics card goes from full load to half load (im judging by the fact that the temp goes from 60 degrees to mid 40s quite quickly, it picks up again and resumes normally for about 5-10 seconds before doing so again).

Other than that recent development its a great game, ive got just over 100 hours into it so far and im thoroughly enjoying it. Definately on par with the quality of Origins.

To any who are interested I fully recommend it, its likely to be game of the year tbh. I would recommend picking up Dragon Age: Origins first however as thats a great little game that will give you some back story and you will get references on inquisition that you will simply not realise/appreciate if not played the first.

Dragon Age 2 is average and I would still recommend it but only for the continuity of the story and again references. One of your advisors in Inquisition for example (cullen) is a character that plays a certain role within DA2 (actually hes in Origins too!) and you can get a little more out of the game being able to link characters in this fashion.

Started another new game...Import hasn't worked again!

Strange. Have you confirmed that the correct world state in the Keep is set to import (there should be a timestamp which appears in both the Keep and the game when you start) and that the Keep is showing the information you are expecting? It seems to work every time for me.

It's odd. It worked for me the first 2 times, with different world States, but the last 2 times I tried, it hasn't worked...and I renamed the world state so that I was sure it was the one being used, but it hasn't stuck. First one that didn't work I didn't notice until about 12 hours in... Soul-crushing!

The really weird thing is that the world-state it loads isn't even the default one... It features a male dalish elf, and the default is a female.

Made a sizeable dent in this on the weekend.

I'm new to this franchise and was just wondering if people constantly rotate the companions and keep them all kitted out with the best possible gear? I must admit I've neglected the people I'm not using and have tended to stick with the same 4 for ease more than anything.

Many thanks, sounds like its worth a go :)

Not had much time to play this but not happy with the performance on my GTX980, occational dips into 40s and I don't understand why, the graphics really arent that good, they're actually quite bad in places.

All 10 dragons down. My d00ds are now kitted out in sweet epiks

They weren't very hard though.

They are just sponges tbh... Stick an enhancement with masterwork silverite on your armour and you can pretty much just hold down attack and solo a dragon quite easily.

One of my main issues with the game is that in order to add challenge they just add more hp to things, but or just results in tedium rather than challenge.

Also, people say the crafting is broken, but it really isn't unless you really exploit it. t I ended up wearing armour from a dragon drop and using a sword from one too..they were slightly better than anything I could craft.

Yeah. To make matters worse, when you kill all dragons, and collect all the shards and go to the temple place, the "super boss" is a level 15 pride demon.

...You actually collected all of the shards?

And re the crafting, the one thing that does make it slightly Op is the fade-touched Obsidian and Silvertire I suppose. They need rethinking really. As it is, its a no-brainer as to what to use when crafting.

You get 3 pretty sweet epic items for collecting them. The dagger is amazing. I duped it and Cole rocks two of them.

Im 80 hours in other than the party chat bug, have had 1 glitch. When a fight started up my character was stiff in a jesus pose but still moved without animation. Im a graphics w***e as well so Im always looking around at the enviroment. Some people will have them and its possible some will not so it dosnt mean he is ignoring anything :)

Have you set DAI to prefer maximum power/performance in control panel? Ive had that problem before where the clocks drop for cutscenes but dont kick back in properly
