Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The right move is obviously not to buy and support these companies but I don't agree that you just stay silent in the matter. I don't go on social media as it's just the same A-holes posting the same crap for likes, comments, thumbs-up etc. However, we should be telling these companies why we are not buying it so they are under illusions as to why sales are low.

The good news is that I'm not playing veilguard and just started 'The last of us'. Been meaning to play this for years.

This has to be bait. Or do you mean social media excluding this forum which is also social media, because the rest sure fits.

Forums are less about likes and being popular, people tend to just post their actual views without concern of how others might feel and gang up on them.

twitter/facebook/whatever generally don't have much depth to them, just surface deep discussions

generic social media is all about Me me me.

interestingly on reddit in the gaming subs I know of, no one seems to be talking about this at all.

I'm assuming the mods don't allow it over there.

I should have been more clear. I mean social media sites as in Facebook and Instagram, most of those people cant go 10 feet without posting crap about there daily lives. I do consider forums different to those sites even though there are similarities.

I'm watching CohhCarnage play the start now on Twitch - it looks alright tbh. I need a new RPG, something I could get my teeth into. I'll wait for general reviews but i'm leaning towards getting this. I'll probably have to watch a recap video or something because i've never played a DA game.

I dont think anyone is saying to stay silent, my personal view ive been expressing is its fine to be vocal and complain but think about how you articulate your complaints. People screaming woke agenda and complaining about inclusion and DEI will just be roundly ignored as bigots, instead let them know you arent happy with the quality of the writing, that there's no conflict or choice, that the characters have no real personality, no flaws or interesting traits, that interactions arent believable and that scenes feel very forced and not how real people interact etc. The better you articulate why you dont like something the more weight it holds.

I see where you are coming from, i do think quite a lot of Youtubers are actually quite good at articulating this.

I like this channel.

He is good.
His take on DA is pretty much spot on, as it was with Assassin's Creed.
He did mention some of the grief he got on Twitter ref DA...

There's "that" word again, that gets bandied about when the toys go out of the pram and the person using it doesn't have the intelligence to make a reasoned argument.
Reminds me of something similar I saw on here earlier.

You still seem to be missing the point of my arguments, im criticising the game but saying that the issues arent inclusivity etc but terrible writing. Inclusivity works fine when you can write a good story and characters.
The issue is that all the forced DEI elements which certainly play a part as to why the writing is so bad is also being used by the devs as a way to deflect from the poor writing and to subdue criticism.

I reckon a large portion of the players will just be people seeing how bad it is for themselves with the 2hr refund window.

Obviously I have absolutely no way of proving that either way, but just what I'm thinking.

You'll know if you see a tonne of sub 30 minute negative reviews talking about nothing but Ideology.

Other than that you'd be looking at a high double digit drop off within 72 hours of go-live.

I have literally seen people say they are buying it to review bomb then refund

What a life those people must have.

Yep it's already happening as @montymint said, 0.3h and referencing parts they haven't got to (but seen on videos), can you even imagine putting that much effort in just for a ramble

Mind you, the ones who are making claims about it being amazing after <1hr are just as bad.

Anyone who does stuff like this for any game is part of the wider problem IMO. It moves the discourse away from the games merits / flaws as a game into the ideological warfare that is plaguing media atm.
