Dragon Age: The Veilguard

This is a decent video on the game, just somebody who wants to enjoy the game for what it is. He explains the few things that he doesn't like, but it doesn't take away from enjoyment of a game.

More people playing BG3 atm on steam than DA.

To compare it to other major AAA titles

Black Myth: Wukong had 2,415,714 concurrent players on launch. Cyberpunk had 1,054,388 concurrent players on launch. Elden Ring had 952,523 concurrent on launch. Hogwart's Legacy had 879,308. Baldur's Gate 3 had 875,343.
Starfield had 330,723.

Can't imagine 60k players is what BioWare hoped for

It’ll be curious if we could get EA play subs for the month and play numbers from that platform.

Unlike the other games in your list, this game is on the EA subscription so will take away from stream stats somewhat. I imagine you’ll get significant numbers taking out a month of EA play to give the game a play through, rather than a purchase

Well, when you put it like that.....

Goalposts moving...it's still the number 1 best seller on Steam.

Don't EA also have their own platform? How many people are playing it on EA Play Pro?

Not sure but physical version is #1 PS5 game on Amazon atm too. Needless to say just using Steam (which is already a decent number) is disingenuous.

being the #1 seller is only true at any given time, its currently ranked higher in that sense than Boulders Gate 3, Counterstrike 2 ecte.... which is true on the day but i don't think anyone would agree it out sold those in overall copy's shipped, give it a while and it will fall down those rankings.

Right now its the newest thing on the store.

35K players right now.

To me it looked liked a game that was always going to sell fine. That it's so far removed from its origins and looks subpar in terms of writing quality or gameplay means very little for the audience it's courting, not to mention that it's clearly aimed more at the console audience too and that's a group which slurps up slop like this on the regular.

For me I'm way past the acceptance stage with Bioware and have been since Andromeda. As for DATV on its own merits I can honestly say that my first 3 hrs with it have felt pointless; the combat is boring and annoying, while the writing and even the scene arrangement for cinematics feel like I'm looking at someone in the process of learning how to act/direct/write rather than the finished product of someone already accomplished. Coming from having recently played through Midnight Suns & Spiderman Remastered the difference couldn't be more obvious. The only good thing I've seen so far is its technical options.

Starfield was on gamepass day 1, which is way more popular sub than EA Pro, and still managed nearly five times higher CCU.

70K is not concord level disaster, but I have serious doubts the game will ever be profitable, given its lenght of development and amount of people working on it.

For reference, Dragon's Dogma 2 has 220K CCU, and sold 3 million units (across all platforms) few months after launch.
If DAV sold 3 million at full price, it is unlikely it would make its budget back. But the number is probably going to be significantly lower, judging by the CCU.
