Very poor concurrent player numbers for a AAA game from a much loved series.

AAA games of today absolutely are judged by preorders and day 1 metrics, Gamers quickly move on to the next and they know this.
Think its a lot more then that, probably about 250+ Mill for development, + 100mill or more for marketing.Nope!
As I said to ICDP putting aside all the current players. For the game to be a success it needs to make all its money back and more.
10 years to make, and some have indicated 100+ million in cost?

IDK about that steam is a pretty massive sample size.Yes but using Steam concurrent player counts on multi platform games (which they all are) is not giving you even close to the full picture.
On the defensive much?
I know you're desperate to make the game a success but even so here's the playstation metric
Who's they? The bean counters use all data from all sources steam or otherwise. Preorders and day one metric from everywhere.Yes but using Steam concurrent player counts on multi platform games (which they all are) is not giving you even close to the full picture. How many sold on console? How many gamers got it through a subscription model on non-steam platforms? How many got it on steam is only a small part of the total.
It may not be a GOAT but it will sell enough to make the beam counters happy I think.

Where on earth do you get this tripe that I want this to be a success? I don’t give a crap about the game.
Like i have already stated gamers move on quickly that is why preorders and the day one metric is important regarding sales.Yes, my point exactly. They use multiple sources and metrics… so using only steam concurrent players as a metric for success is hardly sufficient. I don’t know if it’s a success, I just think it will do well enough to make a profit. This is more indicative of a problem with pre-orders and a subscription model than praise for what is a mediocre game.

I think you have me confused with Neil79?Wait I’m lost here, so you are agreeing with me that using Steam concurrent player count to assess total sales on a multi platform game, is wildly inaccurate?
Ah OK, we agree then, a game being god/bad/mediocre is not the same as a game making money.

Steam, along with Playstation are the main gaming platforms by a large margin. Nintendo, too, but doesn't count here as the game isn't available on Switch. Of course Steam is an important metric - to say otherwise is disingenuous. You realise this is not a steam only game right? No matter how much you try to push a narrative, Steam concurrent players is not an accurate indication of success for multi platform games. It does not show total sales numbers.
I am not saying Veilguard is a success, just pointing out your choice of metric is worthless.
It's the biggest platform and so gives the best indicator of sales numbers against other games, take your tin foil hat off, what next is Steam just a far right bigoted platform now ?Wait I’m lost here, so you are agreeing with me that using Steam concurrent player count to assess total sales on a multi platform game, is wildly inaccurate?

I never championed the steam metric it's you doing that to meThen why do you keep replying to my posts?
