Good quality (i.e. Northamptonshire goodyear welted) shoes have inflated shockingly in price in the last ~15 years. It's a real shame - I love shoes from the likes of Edward Green, John Lobb etc but they just aren't worth the prices to me anymore.
Luckily I have a few pairs of good quality Oxfords from around 2010 or so I'm planning to just try and maintain forever.

Ironic these are made in Italy (Tom Ford was the creative at various Italian fashion houses IIRC).

Prada bought Church's shoes (made in Northampton). So the Italians make them in the UK and the Americans (Tom) make them in Italy. Go figure
