There was a paper released today that highlights a 24% increase in homeless deaths in the last 5 years and the average lifespan of someone homeless is 44 years. It's likely a conservative MP trying to bomb the news with something less embarrassing. :p

To be honest, shooting down a decent model of drone, travelling at high speed, pretty high up, isn't as easy as you'd think. Then there's the worry of bullets missing or over-penetrating and causing collateral damage. The same people who are screaming at the police to shoot it down will inevitably be the same ones screaming the loudest if police missed and a stray bullet hit someone.

Talk about storm in a teacup. The drone hasn't been seen for over 8 hours now, clearly the people responsible have gone under cover.

Gatwick is going to have to re-open at sometime soon, so I guess the interesting thing will be to see whether it reappears like it did overnight when the airport first reopened.

I expect the Army being there is so that when they do reopen, if it does show up again they’ve got some more sophisticated kit and man power to go after it.

Closed for the evening now. Does seem something is amiss! You'd expect the authorities/military to be able to protect the airport given the focus now. Tin foil hat time?

The Twitter is full of "there's more to this than meets the eye!" for various reasons.

A lady called Debs with a cat avatar is convinced there's more to this because "there's no way a drone can fly for over 24 hours!"...

I hope MI5 have her on speed-dial.

New drone sighting 'in last hour'
There has been another drone sighting in the last hour and Gatwick airport will remain closed for the rest of the evening, Gatwick chief operating officer Chris Woodroofe has said.

They've been laughing since the EU referendum. They can't possibly laugh any harder.
