Dubstep thread

There is no real dubstep anymore :(

I was listening to dubstep when it didnt even have a name.... wasnt even a genre (Skream, Pangaea, Coki, Plastician, Kode 9 ect, didnt really like Benga)

Now its all just sound... not music or the flow of real dubstep atall, just hard sharp electronic sounds all mashed together.

Heres some classic true dubstep;



This sort of dubstep is acceptable and I like but not true classic dubstep, you can tell the difference of how its evolved straight away anything more fidgety than this and generally brought out after this and is all just sound and not music to me as they have all gone commercial.

Man I could go on all day... got so many over the years, thare are like different levels and sounds of dubstep from 6 years ago to 2 years ago, all the since it got popular all the new stuff is just rubbish and commercial though sadly.

The rubbish and commercial stuff is exactly that, there's still good stuff being made but you'll have to look for it.

That said, you linked Mt Eden so your post is invalid :(
 
Lol indeed, there a a few minuscule exceptions, just like I like 1 Madonna song :p (frozen)

Given up on all the new stuff, if there is a gem and true bit of dubstep its probably hard to find and over shadowed by all the poop.

Ive got tonnes of vinyls and MP3's/flac of the real music though and sick mixes that are probably very rare, never get bored of listening to them


I have no idea how to insert youtube video's...... lol how you do it?
 
As tombo said, there's still plenty of fantastic music being made, it just takes a bit longer to find it these days as you have to wade through all the common stuff and dig down into the more traditional kind of stuff. Find a few decent artists though and you'll find it easier to spread from those onto similar DJs.
 
I gave up lol... it was hard enough back in the day to find all the real good tunes you liked and thats when it wasnt over crowded and all pure traditional dubstep, now its like a full time job trying to find the good tunes!!

And and traditional/classic/good and propper dubstep doesnt get in the limelight atall because all the now fans of 'dubstep' think real dubstep is rubbish dont understand it and they want to listen to car crash sounds

what are we talking about ? will your set be all your own material or 3rd party material ?

If it is not all yours and you do not have permission from all concerned to use then it is not allowed for copyright reasons, no links/hints etc

youtube is allowed as they claim to control copyright isssues

I'm confused here. So I'm allowed to upload the set to YouTube - like the thousands of other sets on there - and post it here subsequently?

complete and utter rubbish - how do you think sites like mixcrate.com exist?

all those looking to find some proper modern decent dubstep could do worse than listen to rinse.fm or follow labels like get darker, deep medi and chestplate - there's plenty of decent, non-commercial proper dubstep out there you just need to look for it
 
Shame we can't link to soundclouds of arteeeests, there is some excellent new stuff about but you have to fish for it, I download sets daily to hear new stuff, not much catches my attention now but you get the odd one or two tunes which really grip you and you can play over and over.

Todays tune of the day is: Burial and Four Tet - Nova. Such a lush tune.
