Dune (2020) - Denis Villeneuve

Any news on the digital release?

Would love to see it, but I still have absolutely no desire to sit in a room of people for hours, so am just going to wait.

Don't HBO Max have a deal with Sky Movies? I'd imagine it'd be released on that.

I'm gonna book the whole row so I just have it to myself but add to the revenue - I want Part 2!

From the IGN review.

Dune feels like a product from another time in Hollywood history. A movie with the scope and vision of modern blockbusters that tells a complex, mature story usually reserved for independent dramas. It’s hugely ambitious, not always straightforward, but accessible and lived-in in a way that makes watching it completely engrossing, even when the thrills and chills aren’t quite as abundant as recent hits have made us accustomed to. It’s an old-school blockbuster told with visuals that’ll delight a new-school crowd.

The Times only gave it 2 out of 5, however they also gave The Last Jedi 5 out of 5 and called it the best movie in the SW franchise while saying Rogue One was terrible in the same paragraph.

I've never trusted "critics" when it comes to reviews, they are 99.9% biased with an agenda to push. I'll watch a film first and make my own judgements and most of the time my thoughts on a film are polar opposites of what the main stream critics say.

Dune to be the best film ever confirmed then! :D

I'm wary of traditional media reviews of huge tent-pole "blockbuster" films like this unless I've already read and agreed with a few other reviews of "normal" films the same reviewer has done. However now with YT etc I prefer to watch someone like Chris Stuckman, Jeremy Jahns, Critical Drinker or even RLM etc as I've watched most of their reviews and, despite some disagreements on older films, generally agree that their views on current films match my own so, if they like a new film, I'll probably like it too.

If you want films like this to keep getting made its pretty simple. Get ur butt's into theatre seats. It also helps out your local theatre in a time in need.
Unless you just want to throw money at Netflix/prime/Disney plus and just lap up whatever they serve.

I'm not sure you should be quoting that Henry one as a particularly overwhelming positive review. As far as I can tell he is simply admitting that the film exists, just is rather florid language.
Yes it's very tongue in cheek! I don't think he's a fan.

OcUK is undeniably a forum. Brimming with a mod team, software, and posters, it’s a forum made by a team of admin that can irrefutably be described as existent. Truly one of the forums 2021 has to offer.

I'll happily pay the price of a theatre ticket to watch the film, but at home.

Their antiquated business models aren't my problem. First service to offer me the film gets my money, it's up to them if they want it.

I understand that you might hate heading to the theatre to watch a movie and your reasons is quite frankly none of my business but it doesn't change the fact that local cinemas are vital for the movie industry and the paying customer.

It's been quite public that Villeneuve went to war with the WB/AT&T to try and delay and make sure this film made it into movie theatres.

Haven't been to the cinema due to Covid for a long time now but I think this is a movie that has to be seen in the cinema on a big screen so will definitely make an effort to do that, shame that we have to wait until 21st of October.
