Dune (2020) - Denis Villeneuve

it's not imax 70mm film like Dunkirk, but digital 4
I'll have to do some digging. Says shot on Alexa LF IMAX which seems to be a modified Alexa LF. Doubt they changed the sensor though so I wonder if it's literally frame size and aspect ratio that differs. In which case I stand by my comment that I prefer scope/wide ratios.

Sorry i just saw it again. :P

Much better screen, much better sound. Really loved it more than the first.
Could pay a lot more attention to the actual film and not constantly comparing it.

Great film. Hope there's Oscars galore for it. (for what they are worth)

need technical deatils on the projection system imax - dolby laser .... ticket price lol

seems to me UK is still poorly served with just a handful of laser cinemas versus usa - covid hasn't helped.

Don't think i've ever been so keen for box office success but seems with this in particular, it's needed for part 2.
it's important for a lot of reasons. As movie goers we get to vote directly with our cash being the main one.

Also interesting to see the box office is seeing high numbers for the premium imax format. 10% of box office.

My concern is that once it drops on HBOMax same time as US/UK release, a lot of folks will sack off the cinema and just get the 'free' version, I feel like they should be waiting maybe 6 -8 weeks before it goes to streaming if they don't want to eat into revenues.

I’m trying to find out if my local Odean with the 4K laser iSense screen is showing the 1:90.1 version (aka what you’d see at a laser IMAX) or just the regular scope version. Can’t get anything helpful from them. Don’t really want to have to trudge to Leicester Square for the IMAX there when I have a huge screen nearby, but I will if I have to!

That's exactly the question I was trying to work out. The Odeon near me has a 4k iSense screen, but the Manchester Printworks is a proper IMAX although it is further away and more of a pain to get to. The iSense is nicer, but I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on how it should be viewed!

The guy on Twitter support didn’t know. I don’t mind not seeng the 1.43:1 scenes because the BFI IMAX isn’t a 4K screen but I definitely want the ‘taller’ widescreen version. I’ll keep looking.
