Dune: Part 2 (2024)

Greig Fraser must get equal props too. Following on from Deakins work on Sicario and BR 2049… huge boots to fill, but fill them he has (also behind the camera for The Batman and Rogue One).

EDIT - he’s doing the sequel to The Batman as well. Visual continuity ftw.

Dune Part 2 (2023)
Paul Muad'dib: He who can destroy a thing, you know, kind of has the real control of it, the thing that is, when you think about it. I reckon.

:)

God Emperor is my favourite of the 6, but it’s just Frank inhabiting one of the characters and lecturing the reader about his thoughts on religion, politics and philosophy for most of the book. I can’t see how it would work even as a mini-series, let alone a film.

Also Denis seems allergenic to getting too esoteric/colourful with Prescience and I have a feeling there won’t be any psychedelic, internally observing chemical interactions at the molecular level ancestral memory visuals stuff in Part 2, with Messiah then being written more as a trilogy to close the story out in a way that feels complete but doesn’t preclude Children of Dune in the future. The more fantastic stuff has been left at the door for a someone grounded, stripped to the bare essentials approach (which was the wrong move IMO - but perhaps he just didn’t vibe with that side of the series).

Dune Messiah green lit on strength of part 2 trailer?!

If true thats mental!

I'm watching the scifi channel rendition to put me in the mood :p great music
There were always rumours he was in for a 3 movie run even before the first movie dropped but nice to see it confirmed.

I wonder when he plans to fit in Rendezvous with Rama as that was supposed to be his next movie after Dune Part 2.

Currently labouring through God Emperor. Like you say it is just Frank Herbert using his character as a soapbox to spout his political and philosophical bilge. As I said on the other thread, the books start average and descend progressively into dirge....the only redeeming aspect is the world he created.

I hope some genuinely great sci-fi writers like Ian M Banks get their work put into film with the same budget and talent off the back of the success of Dune....I could live without any more of Herbert's books being adapter.

Don't you ******* dare!!!!

With the writer’s and actor’s strikes currently ongoing and with no end in sight, the release date calendar for the rest of 2023 is about as secure as a house of cards.

A new report at Variety indicates Warner Bros. Pictures is “strongly considering” pushing the sci-fi epic “Dune: Part Two” from its November 3rd release to a date sometime in 2024.

My question would be "why?" because what part of the film, based on its supposed release in 4 months, still needs screenwriters or actors involved right now so it can be released on time, unless there's huge reshoots going on that aren't being reported on?

Could be simple as needing some ADR stuff that they can't call on the actors for now, but the other angle is like with the Oppenheimer stuff aren't the actors forbidden from promotional stuff related to the film as well? This is going to be pretty niche, pretty niche with little to no marketing is a recipe for disaster.

Never read the books. Seen the 80's version, didn't really enjoy it. Saw Dune part 1 at the cinema with a friend who loves the books, waste of money for me. I might give it a second chance closer to when Dune Part 2 comes out.

Promotion by the actors, ie, red carpet premiers, magazine and TV interviews, etc.

Never read the books or heard of the series. Was bored and came across Dune Part 1 and really enjoyed it to the fact I read many spoilers. Also listened to the audiobooks for the first 2 books. Looking forward to part 2.
