Oh gosh are they gonna have romping scenes in every episode now?
It's decidedly meh so far
Flashback Tula, gorgeousFingers crossed.
Isn't she also potentially carrying Artedis offspring now? Is that where the bloodlines join?Ok.
Didn't make sense. She appeared to be a virgin but decided to lose it with her 'enemy'.
Also what happened to that chap who wanted to speak to her and gave her a wink? Yea probably dead but why even bother with him and that short dialogue?
It's been clear from the first episode that it's a slow burner so I don't quite understand why anyone is expecting anything other than that.Grief, I've made it to 10 mins into 103, it's so boring.
Tbh you could read the first book and not worry about anything after and not really miss anything. All the good stuff, the world-building, is in there. None of the later books really have a satisfying arc to them, it's just a lot of waffle, which gets slowly worse with each book.I liked the storyline up until it turned into just another revenge story.
I didn't know that this was written but the authors child after the originals, makes sense as it's not as compelling. I'll still watch it though, and also try to find this older version that people have mentioned.
Tempted to read the books but I'd imagine they'll be long and fairly convoluted?
I'm probably going to get crucified somewhere for saying it but it's dune - from the minute they detailed that the show was going to be about the bene gesserit, and that it would be about house politics, anyone expecting epic battles on arrakis should have put peacemaker season 2 in their diaries and downloaded day of the jackal to watch. It's been clear from the first episode that it's a slow burner so I don't quite understand why anyone is expecting anything other than that.
I have to say that I think the weakest link in the show so far is Emily Watson. I think she's a powerful actress with a lot of range, but she looks dead uncomfortable in that role. Olivia Williams as Tula has been quite fun to watch though, Barbara Marten (Sister Avila) has become my pick for the harry Potter show when it goes into production.Third episode was a bit weak I thought, but then I'm not often a fan of episode length flashback sequences. I also think its better to feed these things in bit-by-bit rather than putting the story on hold. Still, there were a number of interesting revelations, and it wasn't enough to drag down a series that has been excellent so far. Apparently it's only a six-episode series though, so it's going to have to whack up the pace if its to deliver a satisfying story that gets watches keen to come back for a second series.
Also: OMG hire an actress who looks older! That old face make-up on the original mother superior was so distracting. I was going to say they can't find any in Hollywood because they've all ruined their faces with plastic surgery, but the actress is English anyway.
What do you mean nothing much happens? They're telling the story. Perhaps it's just not for you?Theres "slow burn" and then there is this series.
How/why do you make a major series where nothing much happens week after week and expect it to be a success ??!
by this logic, Game of Thrones should have sucked the life out of the room in the first few episodes as it was all setting the scene for what was to come. Instead we got whatever the hell it was we got after the red wedding and people watched out of morbid curiosity. Kind of like Lost, actually now that I think about it!Theres "slow burn" and then there is this series.
