EA WRC -

Hopefully it's just the early pre load that is missing as they do state on the official site that "every" pre order has the VIP 5 day thing, liveries etc. So they kind of put themselves on a pedestal!

Mine shows as a pre order in my games list......so gimme!

To be fair Its not just an EA thing, I bought Forza Motorsport through a CD key store and frustratingly I had to wait to Early release date to install. Still a bit bitter that I bought through CDkey store and not through steam... Pretty sure I would have refunded!

So the PS5 version apparently targets 4k/60fps with some dynamic res at play, not sure which version to go for.

Thinking Steam for now and if I don't have to refund because it runs like ****, then PS5 somewhere down the road for couch + OLED.

one day to go, still no pre load option for me as was a bad person and got from CDkeys lol

Looking forward to it, hopefully the optimisation will be there or in an early patch. I should in theory be good for the required specs

ok, so got this installed and gave it a quick go before my commute to work, its around 70GB installation size for those who haven't pre-loaded

Performance wise it auto set to ultra for me at 3440x1440, i have V-Sync enabled and its been a pretty much solid 60 experience for me it seemed to want to iron out some faults on itself to begin with, was stuttering like a mad man for the first 2-3 minutes and giving random FPS drops then just stopped.....i get the occasional small frame rate drop to mid 50's but otherwise ok, maybe first time loading shaders or something on the fly?

Good looking game overall and plays really well, handling model was left alone by EA it appears lolol

Shader compilation stutter.... ugh.

Runs between 80-100+ fps at ultrawide res on a 4070, maxed (game defaulted to ultra everything) and DLSS on Quality.

Unfortunately, stutters are unavoidable until the game compiles shaders for a given stage+car.

Looks good, not as good as I had hoped but it's fun.

Played for around 20mins, I'll give myself an hour or so of timetrial to decide if I want to put up with the stuttering. If not, then refund for now.

Just downloaded it haven't played yet, weirdly it now says I'm on the 5 hour trial and offers to sell me the game again, I have a feeling me and CDKeys are having a chat later. but I've got work today and a hospital trip.

Hmmm, yeah weird one. I have seen that before and was just EA getting confused as you have EA play and it is early access before the 2nd November release date. Think Unbound did it.....

Managed to squeeze a quick hour in before work. My initial impressions so far:

  • performance is good, I didnt mess about with these yet, but it looks like its auto configured to high/ultra. Seen a couple stutters initially but smooth for the most part.
  • Visuals are a nice but Its a bit bloomy for me, will go in and have a dig around and see what I can adjust later.
  • Handling/FFB overall is very nice, a little bit too grippy though.
  • A lot of content to look through.
  • Career mode really has been fleshed out
  • Controller setup is a complete pain in the ass at the moment. Every time I start the game up I have to reconfigure pedals/shifter/handbrake. Strangely enough The wheel holds its config. Not brand specific either, and seems its a known issue that should be resolved soon. Just a bit of a faff having to redo it every time.

haven't managed to get my wheel set up properly since we had load of work done on the house but i am seriously looking forward to trying it! The pad just doesn't feel right and is quite flighty with the steering input

I'm having pretty bad performance with 5800X3D+7900XT. On 3440x1440 resolution, medium graphics can't get stable 120fps, average fps was ~100.

Runs ok for me, looks ok, physics and wheel support are the usual codemasters suckfest though so will be playing with a joypad.

One day someone will make a great rally game, not gonna happens with codemasters and EA making it though.

Going by discord, cdkeys codes won't work til Friday, they've dropped the ball on that one (updated their page to say pre-order, and showing OOS anyway)

I did two time trials (I am/war world record holder in S1600 at Wileli, Kenya in the dry!!!) and I have massive shader compilation stuttering (5800x3D/4090, not that it matters) and hitting around 70fps on max settings at 5120x1440. They already acknoledge performance issues (and a whole load of stuff here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/EA-SPORTS-WRC-Release-Notes/td-p/13145127) so if you're on the fence, give it a patch.

What I will say though is the car list is sublime and once you've restarted a car/stage combination a couple of times to get rid of the stuttering; it handles wonderfully! Still happy with my purchase even if I'll avoid career for a patch or two and stick to time trial :D

Some stuttering for me on my simrig pc (Ryzen 9 3900x & 2080ti). But setting up Fanatec DD1 with the Simtrecs pedals has not been great, so I'll have a more in depth look at that when I get the time.

Tried it on my gaming pc (7800x3d/4090) has faired better using an Xbox controller, still stuttered a few times whilst doing the rally school section, but I've literally plug and played it due to my lack of time spare at the mo.

First impressions are it's more like the previous WRC games than Dirt Rally/2.0 - looking forward to putting some decent hours to give a proper impression of it.

Really struggling to get any challenge from the AI in career mode, I started at 75% week 7 in the career and now at 95%. I'm still beating them by 10-15 sec per event and I'm making mistakes... I'm just going to go 100% tomorrow and see how I get on, but AI so far is far too easy.

Not seeing it.
Feels like DR2.0 with more grip and a **** ton more content to me.

CDKeys folk who are seeing that it is in "trial mode"

Guy on EA forums has been in touch with them and been given response that "the code will work from the 3rd....., that is what our site gives as release date"

I mean that seems utterly bizarre and I can only think that EA have some kind of lock down for keys provided from 3rd part sources that arent steam? I struggle to see how a valid key can not give you a game on its own

Plot thickens I guess!
