EA WRC -

Refunded for now.

First, I think that using an engine that compiles shaders during actual gameplay is absolutely idiotic in a rally game as the stutters are not only super annoying but also lead to mistakes.

Second, I just find it less enjoyable than I expected, for some reason. Wanted to play some more but didn't want to go over the refund window by accident.

Will give it a chance after a few patches and a price drop.

Thankfully stutters arnt really an issue for me. I get a few on initial load in to normal gameplay, however after about a minute its gone, not just for that stage but for further play as well.
I'm more than satisfied with the game. Yes there are issues to solve however nothing a couple small patches cant solve thankfully. This release has been pleasantly smooth for me. I can see me sinking a lot of hours into this! Money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah agreed it's like it just has to load it all once and then it's bob on performance wise.

Had the same "you will have access on 3rd" reply from cdkeys and that's fine as really busy with life ATM, once I have time to set up wheel next week will be hopefully all ready to go.

Enjoyed what I have played so far, granted only single races because of time. Pretty game and for £26 I am happy, I just suck at it ATM on pad lol

CDKeys folk who are seeing that it is in "trial mode"

Guy on EA forums has been in touch with them and been given response that "the code will work from the 3rd....., that is what our site gives as release date"

I mean that seems utterly bizarre and I can only think that EA have some kind of lock down for keys provided from 3rd part sources that arent steam? I struggle to see how a valid key can not give you a game on its own

Plot thickens I guess!
yeah my 5 hrs just ran out, been enjoying it so far and no issues apart from getting my wheel set up right.
That said i consider using a 4090 pretty much cheating for performance and if anything wasnt running perfectly id be very annoyed.

CDKeys said nothing about the 3rd to me, just had me send them screenshots of the game only showing as a trail, earlier and no further replies tonight. that said they are based in the ME so have probably gone to bed.

If it comes on fine on the 3rd so be it, if not i want my money back and I will claim for it if i have to but this is the first issue ive had with CDkeys in years of using them

Really enjoyed the two hours I played yesterday.
The game does seem quite demanding at ultra wide 1440p.

It did run smooth for the most part for me and was above 60fps.

Tonight I will work on adjust my fanatec CSL DD 5nm settings.

what GPU are you running if you don't mind me asking?

always good to know settings / hardware people are running at this res.

I kept the game in the end as I got sucked into timetrial, the stuttering also pretty much stopped (obviously) but I genuinely think WRC Generations often looks and runs better than this with less bland stages. Many of them feel less technical and demanding.

I know these are real stages but they can look really flat sometimes due to the lighting and are hardly up to 2023 standards considering the performance problems.

On top of that, unless they patch in shader pre-comp, the game will have to recompile everything again after a driver or game update and the stuttering will be back.

Stuff like raindrops on your windshield, or rain in general, looks miles worse than DR2.0.

There's a lot of things here that just make me think they had EA breathing down their neck to release the game as quickly and cheaply as possible. It feels uneven, just like past WRC titles.

Not saying I'm not having fun but I'm a bit disappointed. It's not that huge breakthrough I expected from Codemasters, maybe I just hyped it way too much for myself.

Anyways, I'll keep playing and enjoying it for what it is, refunding and saving 10 quid later won't change much.

Finally got a response form CDkeys, they say it should be fine as of tonight once the full launch goes through, if not then they will issue me a refund.

EA forums are full of people blaming EA for this, not sure how that works in some peoples brains, I bought it from CDkeys my issue is with CDkeys, surely that's not that hard.

CDKeys are pretty much grey market, not an official reseller. It's absolutely not EA's fault in this case. I trust them more than G2A for example, but still.

Going to play some more in a while, hope they'll add DLSS3.0 support since even Generations had 3.0 + FG added while this is stuck on 2.0. Native Dualsense support is missing as well, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers would've made this way more enjoyable for us controller peasants.

Would be nice to have quick runs or time trial with selectable weather/time of day/season, not only dry/wet.
