Easyriders Cinema Room

While the equipment is ace and you've done a good job renovating the room, the room lacks a certain something , its cold and sterile , not somewhere to spend time :o

Thts because I don't have a fridge,a table for drinks and some pictures up in the pics.

im in the process of redoing my living room and need to choose some wire for the rears and center, im using tannoys all round like yourself.
i have qed biwire (which im running through the main wall coming out to faceplates for banana plugs) and that works well with the Fronts,

Cabling4Less 2 x 2.5mm² Loudspeaker Cable (100m Reel)
2 x 2.5mm² Loudspeaker Cable (100m Reel)

* Oxygen free electrolytic copper
* Transparent cadnium free PVC
* Fine wire strands
* Conductor:2 x 2.5mm²
* Inner Conductor: 2 x 322 strands x 0.10mm²
* 100m Length
* This cable is polarised (+/-)

This was suggested to me by the audio guys over at AV forums.

Superb cable for the price.

I think I am going to ditch the TV and lower the screen. The TV is not getting used enough and its slightly in the way.:p

Pics to come. :D

Yep, this is what I said in an earlier post. I'd also look at placing the centre speaker where your TV is / use to be, you'll get a better level of sound coming at you from the centre. This just being my opinion of course. :)

All opinions welcome.:)

I knew I would have to use it before I started tweaking but thats the fun. :p

Thing is I just don't use the TV....might move this and have it as a monitor for my Adobe audtion suite instead.:p

I must admint...the screen lower willbe better. Gonna move it tonight let me know what you think.

really nice setup easyrider :)
one question though

in this pic what plugin are you using ? i cant get rid of the blue box surrounding the name of the title on mine and was wondering how you have got rid of it ?
i'm using media browser 2.2.1 and the vanilla plugin and have a blue box surrounding the names i can't get rid of :(

I found setting this up like that screen shot was just to much hassle in the end to get right.Took me hours IIRC..Don't get me wrong media browser looks nice but it can be buggy espically when you have over 1000 movies i found it very laggy.

The crashing and faffing and the slow search and indexing of the movies got on my nerves in the end. After all I just wanted to sit down with a beer an watch a film.:p

Sky HD takes care of the TV side of things.

So I ditched the HTPC and did a reformat to Windows Home Server. I now stream all my movies to my PS3 and it works flawlessy.

No messing about with drivers or anything just a 5TB storage pool linked directly to my PS3.:cool:

i need hd dvd playback so using my ps3 isn't an option :( and as its one of the first ps3's it gets audible after a while when it heats up :(, i've had no problems with crashing so far and it all seems fairly smooth and quick (but then i do have it on my ssd).
and yes i know what you mean about the time it takes to get all the metadata stuff set up :(.
i have a virgin v+ box for the tv side.

i have just installed harmony and it seems to be everything i was looking for :) thanks Shidojin :)

As I say whatever works for the individual :)

what specs does the projector have? what res can it do?
not sure what to be looking for when i get one, i am guessing that better res is needed due to the size that it can be used?

Hi mate

google the spec

Its more expensive now near 500 I got lucky

Its a HD 720p PJ

I'm still thrilled with it

Hi easyrider, looks good that bro!2

Just a quick question, i'm a lazy fool and cant be bothered to scan through the whole thread again, but did you show how to make those bass traps somewere in here?

Could you point them out to me? ALSO, is there any specific way of knowing how many bass traps you need etc? I'm just thinking for a studio I am trying to rejig, would be handy having a few somewere!

I emailed a company that offers free quotes for sound proofing/acoustic treatments.

I sent them a picture of my room and the dimensions.
They did the math and and a plan of what I would need.

I then did it myself :)

I still can't believe you managed to get the 876 for £599.....I paid that for my 875 about 2months before you got that one.

I went into richer sounds and haggled.

It was just after the price hike to 999

Remember I had bought my speakers from them to.

I walked in and just asked for the manager.

Then I said.

I have heard on the grapevine that you sold a guy an Onkyo 876 for 599 three weeks ago. He said how do you know that?

I said you are famous on the AV forums,there is a thread about this store and how good you are as a manager for doing cracking deals.

I gave him my name,he checked my account on the computer..looked at what I bought in the last few weeks from the same store and just said OK will sell it for 599

I shook is hand and said thanks very much.

:D

Hi Easy/everyone else. I've got a couple of questions.

The first, which is probably for Easy really, is which projector mount did you use? I've got the same projector and I'm looking at mounting it in my new house (renovations start in the next month). I've been looking at some of the universal one on amazon, and the reviews aren't at all re-assuring.

Secondly I'm looking at wall plates for terminating CAT5 and HDMI. They'll be one HDMI socket in the ceiling, and the partner socket down near the floor, only one HDMI socket is needed as my Amp will do all the switching. For CAT 5 most rooms will be getting a single connection, though one will get a double. These are all feeding back to a patch panel. Any recommendations? Plain white is required, and cheap as reasonable. If anyone has any ideas on a gig-ethernet switch, I'm looking for something low density (12 ports), low heat, and low power draw.

Hi Mate,

I just bought a cheap 15 quid mount for the PJ worked perfect and does the job.I mean once its mounted and set I knew I wouldn't be moving it again for some time.

The switch? I would go for a HP Procurve switch. Propbably one of the best switches you can buy for the money.
