Easyriders Cinema Room

how much did you pay for it? did you get it from the channel islands shop?

I'm looking at getting one shortly but feel resentful paying £530 for one when they were sub 400 not that long ago, and the pound has gotten stronger again too

I grudged paying over £100 more when last month they were around the £400 mark. I had a search around and found a couple of projectors that are considered to be better for the same sort of money. The infocus X9 which I bought cost me £415 with free delivery and I got a 92” screen for £60.

There is also the Planar PD7010 which you can pick up as B grade stock for £480.

Got mine setup today, just the socket for the projector to go in tomorrow and im all set.

I currently dont have a screen, just projecting onto a matt white wall, the overall effect is good but its a bit too bright, could someone recommend a budget but decent 92" scroll down screen?

I also got spot lights fitted instead of the large centre light in my living room, im projecting the image (approx 92") above my 50" plasma, its a tad higher up than id like, but the option is not having my tv in front of the couch, and thats not very comfortable for tv viewing then, i may end up switching my 50" living room tv with my 42" bedroom plasma to make it a little less in your face, sitting about 12 feet back from the screens.

I used my existing Logitech Z5500's at the moment, i had my rear speakers wired in today as well (bought some new cable for that) so when i change setup, ill still be able to use the cables for these and just buy some new better cable for whatever i get put in.

Including the electrical work, projector and remote, ive spent less than £600 as i already had the speakers, so its a budget system, but overall, its very pleased with the result, and it will do for a while. Its amazing what you can with not a lot of cash if you have a decent sized room to put stuff into! Ill bring the camera home from work tomorrow and take some pics when its complete (or near complete, plasterer is coming to tidy up around the projector and lights, so ive got a big gaping hole just now where my old main light came down).

Worth all the effort then?:D

I have one I could sell. Its a Beamax one.. Black casing. Good condition. Also a Optoma HD72i projector however it does need fixing. I had it fixed a while back, the colour wheel shattered inside so Optoma collected and returned it. It worked fine for a while then started to go a funky by having lines down the screen like a vertical slat effect. ROB75 can confirm that. It will need sending back and getting fixed..

While the equipment is ace and you've done a good job renovating the room, the room lacks a certain something , its cold and sterile , not somewhere to spend time :o

easy what wire did you use for your center and rears?
im in the process of redoing my living room and need to choose some wire for the rears and center, im using tannoys all round like yourself.
i have qed biwire (which im running through the main wall coming out to faceplates for banana plugs) and that works well with the Fronts,

Yep, this is what I said in an earlier post. I'd also look at placing the centre speaker where your TV is / use to be, you'll get a better level of sound coming at you from the centre. This just being my opinion of course. :)

All opinions welcome.:)

I knew I would have to use it before I started tweaking but thats the fun. :p

Thing is I just don't use the TV....might move this and have it as a monitor for my Adobe audtion suite instead.:p

I must admint...the screen lower willbe better. Gonna move it tonight let me know what you think.

Thats my only problem with my setup, i would like the screen down lower but because of my 50", its gotta be up. Going to look at having it wall mounted and getting a remote screen to come down over the top to solve it though :)
