Easyriders Cinema Room

Unbelievable, a fantastic example of neat, tidy, awesome planning working perfectly. I am extremely jealous!

Hi Easy,

Can you tell me your room dimensions please?

I'm just about to start a rebuild of my study and turn it into a Study/Home Cinema Room.

I've a feeling i'm a metre or two smaller than your room. But want to get the same effect as you have. Fed up with the wife telling me I can't have a big TV and surround sound in the living room (yes I know under the thumb).

Also do you know if there is an optimum distance a projector has to be away from the other wall, as I'm debating whether or not to put in a projector or a 40/42 inch tv.

Once I've got some ideas sketched down I'll open up a thread and hopefully get everyines help and experience to assist in the build. Maybe make it a community build project.

Thanks for any help.

What happened to those pics promised in December? :)

The room is approx 5 m2 the PJ is about 4m away from screen.

The best bet is to use the calculator on the optoma site to get the measurments for your room.:)

That is an old screenshot, what version of Vanilla are you using? And you could try using the Harmony theme, it replicates the look of the old version of Vanilla.

I found setting this up like that screen shot was just to much hassle in the end to get right.Took me hours IIRC..Don't get me wrong media browser looks nice but it can be buggy espically when you have over 1000 movies i found it very laggy.

The crashing and faffing and the slow search and indexing of the movies got on my nerves in the end. After all I just wanted to sit down with a beer an watch a film.:p

Sky HD takes care of the TV side of things.

So I ditched the HTPC and did a reformat to Windows Home Server. I now stream all my movies to my PS3 and it works flawlessy.

No messing about with drivers or anything just a 5TB storage pool linked directly to my PS3.

i need hd dvd playback so using my ps3 isn't an option :( and as its one of the first ps3's it gets audible after a while when it heats up :(, i've had no problems with crashing so far and it all seems fairly smooth and quick (but then i do have it on my ssd).
and yes i know what you mean about the time it takes to get all the metadata stuff set up :(.
i have a virgin v+ box for the tv side.

i have just installed harmony and it seems to be everything i was looking for :) thanks Shidojin :)
