Easyrider's Playon HD mini review thread.

Is there any news about supporting the mkv files with header compression? It's pretty easy to fix up the mkv but I guess a bit annoying to do before watching.
 
Dan, if you check AC Ryan's website it's an issue with the chipset. Apparently the manufacturers have been notified and they're awaiting a fix so they can roll it out into some firmware.
 
ordered a ACRyan Mini last night so should be getting it by next week :) . cant wait to see whats its mad of....thought it would be a lot easier hooking it up to my PC with over the network then having a HTPC
 
Hey guys - just an update, since I updated various software and put my library on its very own Hard one (HDD), its been way better - had no issues at all, so pleased about that

After a few weeks or so of use definately recommended, very pleased with it now!

Soon I am going to start using YAMJ and the media art which looks really cool!

I have a PlayOn HD 500GB and i've been hearing about YAMJ but i'm totally lost frankly.

I gather it lets me set up a pretty library of all my films etc. but how do I use it? What do I need to do to get it up and running? Noob steps please :p

Download the YAMJ ac ryan version from their site and install.

Point to the share or movies and scan
 
Install it where? On my PC or on the PlayOn? How do I install stuff onto that?

Like I said, I need noob steps :p

Will it need to be online for this to work properly?

Install on your pc

Point to the movies and scan.

Then browse to the index.htl file created in the source directory on the playon

Done

Whose site am I downloading from too, AC Ryan or YAMJ?

I'm deadly serious about this noob step business, i've heard mentions of YAMJ and I got the PlayOn today. I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing with it, I just want something nicer looking than a list of MKV and AVI files :p

Just do it and you will find out just how easy it is.

My 10 yr old did it.
 
Hmmm this has me interested...at the moment i have my movies ripped to my laptop HD which is then connected to my router which is then connected to my xbox360...i stream my movies from my laptop using Tversity so far its pretty good but sometimes it stutters every 20 mins or so.

Anyhow would buying this replace my current setup ie getting rid of tversity and using this to stream my stuff from my laptop to my xbox360??

Not sure if i should get the 1.5tb model or just stick with the normal model.

Any advice??
