And its not the same engine anyway.

Looking good but iam a little concerned that the 'ship with history' they are referring to means the player is stuck in one ship.

I just want to reassure the cynics among you (Skeeter, I'm looking at you ) that when we say we've started from scratch with the game engine, we really mean it. With the old game engine, the graphics engine part of it was replaced several times, and numerous changes were made to other parts of it in all of the games. As explained in the X-Universe News Q&A section, it served us well for a long time but it had reached the end of the line, and in order for us to be able to do new things we made a fresh start.

Clearly states its a new engine, and I have no reason to believe he is lying.

Im a bit of a complainer on their forums since x3 haha mainly as i hated their direction away from what made xbtf so great, internal docking especially the cool ones from xbtf and cockpits which we first saw in x-tension.

I agree it lacks substance i.e feeling while playing as its too much sandbox not enough story content or charm.

The weapons suck as well as effects and lack of hull damage.

Oh CBJ replied did he. Well i'd like to believe him but im sceptical.

.

There are several weapons mods to choose although some arent great. I agree on hull damage, in my game i changed a 'few' of the stats for hulls.

m5x1.25
m4x1.5
m3x1.75
m8x2.25
m6x2
m7x2
m1x2.5
m2x4

All the T'sx1.5

It has skewed hull repair values but I use the marine repair script and liberal use of my repair laser anyway.

Its easy enough to do and makes capital class ships slug it out for a much more impressive duration. Shields are no longer the be all and end all of combat.

Also allowed the m8's to carry a couple of normal missiles to increase versatility, why ego would make a bomber class that everyone had been asking for but not make them carrier compatible is utterly mind boggling.

Goto the Egosoft forums - they are really helpful over there. I am sure they can help you to get it up and running.

I used to enjoy hosting a Freelancer server on my PC so me and my mate could play (LAN) Being a student in a shared flats with a couple of other gamer mates into similar games. Something similar with X would be AWESOME.

something like integrated into steam cloud would be cool.

So you make your coop universe then you both play o nit together etc and it's saved to steam cloud, then either of you can play by yourself and the save is updated o nsteam cloud then when you both play together again or the other guy plays it uses the updated save.

so you can play together band apart an the changes from both are saved.

So you avoid the problem with local coop always needing both to be online at the same time and also avoid having to get a server so you can both play at separate times too.

Just been looking at the released screenshots again and its impressing me more and more, keeping seeing extra details that are really nice.

Also the galactica clone ship looks a whole world of awesome.

From the trailer I am guessing SETA may be out and high speed links and engines are in. Far more realistic in the terms of X3 lore, SETA never really made sense. Plus it should fix the endless "my 400ms M5 crashed into a rock in a dense asteroid field on SETA X10 fix the stupid AI" post that appear from time to time:rolleyes:.

I would love to see SETA gone as well. Some alternative that makes sense would be a nice improvement.

huh?

SETA makes sense in a common sci fi physics sense anyway.

If you're close to a black hole time is dilated a few seconds to you is hours for everyone else, you have a tiny black hole that you can be exposed to.

but seriously all you're asking for is SETA with a different name and more plausible physics?

game would be borderline unplayable without it.
