*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

It's the ones who buy from Steam fully knowing they can't get a refund at all that get me. Then they spam going I WANT A REFUND as loud as they can as if they weren't aware of this very possibilty and bought the game anyway.

First time I heard X Rebirth was announced I was so pumped - X beyond the frontier up to X3 Reunion were by far my favourite space sim games.
But now, having seen videos and reviews.. i'm amazed at what Egosoft has come up with. I hope those asking for a refund get one because £40 for what looks to be a colossal letdown is extortionate. Really sad to see how it panned out :(

I bought X3 reuinion and X3TC ages ago in a steam sale and never got round to it. I was thinking of playing one of them until rebirth resembles a good game. Which one is the best one for sandbox and making your own trading empire. Somebody already suggested X3TC with xtended mod is that a good idea?

I would agree, but there's a couple of things you're forgetting. When I buy a game I expect it to at least be functional, I didn't buy X Rebirth from Greenlight, as a kickstarter or as an in development game like Prison Architect or Kerbal (both of which I own) I bought it as it was advertised - a triple A title coming from a games house with a long history of solid games in this franchise, each with small bugs on release but all of them patched and the game solidly developed over the years by Egosoft and the community.

What I got was a **** poor half baked port, with game breaking bugs from day one which clearly had almost no QA carried out on it. The first game breaking but was just 20 minutes into the game - which results in the saved game having to be edited, the fix coming from a customer. They purposely kept final versions away from review sites whilst advertising a fantastic looking game, in other words promised a solid game, delivered a pile of ****.

I've had a bit of fun in X Rebirth, but it's so far been out weighed by the enormous number of bugs and poor development work that sticks out like a sore thumb. No refund? I really don't care any more, I'll chock this up to stupidly in pre-ordering and simply never do it again. I should have learnt this after Assassins Creed III but that's another story!

Check my earlier post, I'm not expect a refund, but I am expecting Steam to think twice about sticking another Egosoft game on their catalogue. I've played the X series since 1999 and as far as I'm concerned this has all but killed it, which is a tremendous shame. I'm convinced this can't be resolved with bug fixes, it's bigger than that -the game is fundamentally flawed with poor interfacing, lack of essential features which I can't see any way to retro-fit into the game (Radar anyone?) and absolutely dire AI. I don't mind that you can only pilot one game, what I do care about is the rather pathetically stupid use of "Space highways" I mean seriously, does look like it's made for a D-pad doesn't it?

The AI though, you're in a fight? Just fly past them, they STOP TO TURN AROUND. :D Are you near a station? don't worry they'll get stuck if you fly around a bit. It genuinely is comical!

Yes, XTC + extended is the way to go. Albion Prelude is OK but Terran Conflict beats it and with extended it crushes it into the ground, you won't regret going to it. Just put the effort in to get started, the first 20 hours are pretty slow going usually, make use of your SETA whenever you can ;)

I've decided to uninstall it. I want to enjoy it and in its current state it's just frustrating me. I'm going to give it 3 months or so and then see what sort of patches and mods have come out. Hopefully then it'll be fully enjoyable.

TC with the xtended mod is meant to be one fantastic game. Even us modded it is a great game - lots of patience require in the beginning, but it think that is why the game is so rewarding.

I am going to be doing the same I think :)

Never got round to the xtended mod with TC, only reunion.

I remember you could get a headstart and get your ST running if you just went and claimed the few nearby abandoned ships. That's what I usually do to avoid the slight grind at the start.

Tempted to give TC a blast with X-tended too as I never tried it with that and I do miss the menu's of TC - they were perfect imo. I never did understand the hatred of them, was it just because of their initial difficulty?

Big learning curve for everyone involved in modding the new game but as you can see its already started. Once the official MD docs are out (no idea when that will be) it should really pick up. Still waiting to hear about any official tools as well but I am keeping my fingers crossed :)

I've already started playing around with making textures including new ones for the tubes.

what is ST that you refer to (sorry to sound tarded)

Sector Trader. It's the start point for your eventual automated traders (called Universal Traders). You buy a piece of software for about 500k credits I think off the top of my head, install it on a trader and send it to the best self sufficient sector you can find and it trades. Once it reaches a certain level you set it to trade in a wider area and it becomes a UT. From there it starts making mucho moneys.

oooo X Rebirth is on nexus now, brilliant. Hopefully it gets big enough that they integrate it into NMM. That would be awesome and so much easier to manage scripts and stuff.

Despite some of the love for this, the launch/issues and general annoyances regarding this game may force me away from it until it drops low.
