*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Wow, so this was blatantly a ****** console port? I haven't really played the game much but yeh that sucks, I hate console ports ruining it for PC.

+1 for this!!

Very odd I'm not having input lag unless my joystick (X52) is plugged in, where it just doesn't work properly at all, a very noticeable delay. Worth trying it with less devices plugged in? Not tried it on a gamepad myself yet as keyboard/mouse is smooth.

Will give it a shot mate, but I think it may be the low FOV in the space stations giving me dizziness!

Tempted to buy Albion Prelude in the meantime. Never did get round to buying that one.

X3AP isn't bad, personaly i don't think it's a patch on TC, and the never ending war is kinda pointless & grinds your gears a bit, especially if you bust a gut as a Terran & max your rep with all the other races, they'll still attack your damn ships as soon as you jump OOS, irrespective of how friendly they are when your IS.

Still, it's not bad, there are some nice shiney new ships to play with, new systems to explore etc, if you can get it cheap do so.

The only escort mission I ever did worked just fine, but it took 20 minutes. There are much easier ways to earn money.

For me I sat and watched a transport bumping into the station for 15 minutes. Another transporter I escorted to the final destination but it ran into the station and got stuck.

I had my first crash today and I had to alt+tab to shut the game down via task manager. According to task manager the game is 32bit but the games requirements says you need 64bit Windows.

I watched the transport clip the side of a station wall a few times but it soon sorted itself out.

I'm a bit worried what i'm going to find when I eventually get to station building with this game. Maybe I should have just started a new X3: TC game :p

I've had a few crashes now, so I just make sure I save every 15 minutes. The frame rate issues I thought I had when I first started were actually to do with me having power saver mode on my laptop, the game seems to run pretty well for me.

Are there any more bugs with the campaign mission that I need to be aware of? I've just completed the prisoner transport mission. I don't want a repeat of the 100 energy cells bug

Bugs yes, not many are game breaking but it's more the insanely stupid gameplay you have to put up with, hacking the station was particularly pointless/infuriating and clearly not tested.

Hmm, I don't want to be overly cynical but I wonder if once this gets patched up to a respectable level it will be released on consoles?

Elite Dangerous, the only good game that Braben has done was Elite. The sequels were bug ridden with features missing which left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Thats why I never backed it at KS. I will wait and see about Star Citizen they have some very lofty goals which I hope they deliver but I am not ready to cough up for it.

To be fair, the Frontier sequels were released unfinished by the publisher, and IIRC, Braben sued. I think he's aware of how the realistic settings in Frontier didn't make them fun to play. He's already said (for instance) that there will be an old Elite-style flight model, and not a Frontier Newtonian one.

He's also taken a lot of stuff on board from the backers forums where they can make suggestions and shape the game. For instance, everyone wanted time dilation, but that won't work in multiplayer, so they've come up with a jump system to get you around a system quite quickly.

If you look at the dev diaries with Braben, he's obviously listening to what people want, and today's hardware makes it possible. In fact, he's wanted to make Elite Dangerous for a long time, but it's only been in the last few years the hardware has been around to be able to run what he wants to do. That and Kickstarter giving him the backing and showing investors it's a product that people want.

That "worth a buy" video in this thread sums things up perfectly. You can patch the bugs, but it's the game that's broken.

After watching Scott Manley's playthrough on Youtube, I can only assume it's been designed for consoles from day one.

It looks bloody awful and Egosoft ain't getting £40 from me. :(

Whilst this game has its flaws, I am getting really tired of reading complaints presented as fact around the web such as 'only two races', 'only 4 sectors'...how about actually playing the game before casting assumptions! These things really do spiral out of control. I feel ashamed to call myself a gamer these days.

The guy in the video actually said that he made a mistake about the areas

Yeah that info was wrong and I have corrected it in the video, still the rest of it is accurate and if the gameplay is horrible it makes little to no difference how large the universe is, does it.

I know you love the game CaptainRAVE but it's a complete farce of a release and taints the X branding. There is really nothing you can do to stop this, it's getting trashed everywhere and it's not going to be a next day patch either to fix it.

Tell you what, I like this game and all but that Worth a buy video is hilarious. Maybe it's just hearing another geordie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, even despite disagreeing on the severity of some of his points (and agreeing with others).

I don't love it, but there is a lot that I like and it isn't like we have any other space sims at the moment other than the most recent x games.

It really doesn't matter how much it gets trashed, they now have your money. Raging everywhere doesn't do anything. Most of the people who rage end up buying the sequels, we have seen it many times before. No idea why people preorder with zero info, then get so cross. More fool them tbh.
