*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

I know how you feel. It's the expectation of something great being dashed. That sad fact is that I think X-Rebirth's problems lie deeper than just bugs. They will have to re-do massive portions of the game and change some fundamental gameplay choices. Even if they are willing to put in the time, effort and money, I don't know if the egos at the company that made those bad choices will allow it. Still, it could be worse, you could be £40 out of pocket as well.

My advice if you've given up on X-Rebirth and want something to replace it is to look at Elite Dangerous. Read some of the newsletters and dev diaries, and you can get all excited by that instead! It's probably closer to what we were expecting from X-Rebirth than Star Citizen is.

Ha I'd actually started reading the newsletters earlier today which I had stored but been ignoring up until now.

I was an early backer of Elite: Dangerous and have a digital copy reserved for £20 just because at the time there was little development happening in the genre. I do like the way they are going about developing the game from what I've read so far but think they may have gone a bit overboard with the reward packages.

Silly asking this now - but is it a single player game like the X series or multiplayer?

The irony is that I wouldn't be surprised if a very large percentage of the player base scream of performance issues looking at what they are doing with the game. You can't please gamers whatever you do tbh.

yeah its going to need a killer rig thats for sure. But it might be one of those games where you really get captivated in the gameplay far more than the visuals. And Mantle could be the difference for those wanting to max out eye candy as Chris Roberts has been singing its praises.

My thoughts too - all I've read is that Elite Dangerous is MMO only, no SP mode. Regardless, having yet to purchase X-Rebirth I'm glad I revisited this thread to get the vibe, will wait for the price to drop and/or a few patches.

I think I might just have to give up and come back to it after Christmas or something. Egosoft are great for patching issues, that's no excuse for what they've released, but it's something. I figure if I come back in a couple of months, a number of issues will have been patched and a range of mods will exist to deal with some of the design issues.

There's a SP mode, but you won't be able to play your SP save in MP.

Elite Dangerous, the only good game that Braben has done was Elite. The sequels were bug ridden with features missing which left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Thats why I never backed it at KS. I will wait and see about Star Citizen they have some very lofty goals which I hope they deliver but I am not ready to cough up for it.

In fact X (abortion) Rebirth is the last game I will preorder.

I take it that is tongue in cheek? As this is a pc a game that not coming our on a console.

On another note don't do escort missions they are bugged.

The only escort mission I ever did worked just fine, but it took 20 minutes. There are much easier ways to earn money.

My god, the game looks awful in that Youtube video. Patches/bug fixes won't fix it ... so glad I didn't pre-order it ( and that's coming from an X veteran ). Commiserations to those who shelled out £40.

What is it with developers this year ? First Creative Assembly ( with Rome 2 ) and now Egosoft with this ....
