*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

AI is almost non exist ant in this game and so horribly broken it's pretty much impossible to play without editing save games to add warez because the traders are so crap and get stuck in some wierd ai loop not knowing what to do.

btw if your ship has a defence officer you can change him from defensive > attack enemies from the enter 2-2 DE button on the ship , click the defence officer and then click the details/desc tab whatever it is called near the bottom right.

they probably won't attack though.

engineers are apparently fixed but a ship needs construction urv drones for them to repair

That would be nice, gonna be a lot easier than the old way of tracking scripts on ego's forums. Although tbh with it being on the Nexus now I suspect someone on their forums will be doing this as we speak.

Loving some of these mods already, especially that cockpit removal.

the clean hud makes the game looks a million times better.

I'm done with the game thought biggest waste of £40 I spent on a game in years.

if it was a £25 early access I could put up with it but the game is clearly nowhere near a gold disc state and should never have appeared on steam.

steam should refund everyone and take the game off steam because its ******* **** and at least 6months from a finished state

**** it , some people are saying they got refunds from steam , I'll try my luck but I spent about 40 hours in the game mostly trying desperately to get it to work...
I linked them to the egosoft forums so they can see all the happy campers and gave them a few quotes from the gaming press saying how bug riddled and what a crash fest it is.

also told them to check how many times I launched the game if they can to see I didn't have 40 hours of fun!

I must have launched the game at least a few hundred times

Steam knocked back my request for a refund stating that:

1. Steam don't do refunds. Which we know is a lie.
2. I should fix my drivers.

In short they didn't bother reading. I've send them a detailed response, I don't mind being refused but I'd at least like something more than copy/paste support answers.

This is why i continue to say preordering is NEVER worth it. Even with developers and publishers with a proven track record, or previous hit games, or are lord god almighty.

Always wait for the release and critique, and then the subsequent glut of patches, fixes and mods.

Im a little disappointed in Egosoft, seems like a lot of the polishing never got done and they released wayyyy too early to coin it in (hell they describe the launch as a success in the press)...

hey ho, nice to see the modders fast out of the blocks :) I reckon a month and all the annoying sh** will have been modded out,

edit: release >>> released

Having held off from buying this on release, just to see how it pans out, i'm starting to feel like ive dodged a £40 bullet, damn shame as i was really looking forward to it as well. :(

Same here, I was really looking forward to this but held back (just) and now very relieved I did. Maybe in the Christmas 2014 sale...

I've officially given up on it.

Fired up Albion Prelude with the added Terran conflict plots last night and started again....instantly more enjoyable and tbh, it doesn't look that much worse especially when you're in Boron space

It looks better I think. Rebirth is riddled with low res textures and low poly models. The backgrounds and station look pretty nice but that's about it. I mean you enter a space lane and your screen is filled with the back end a ship that looks like its been ripped straight from x2

Finally got my copy from zavvi, had a play of it for an hour last night. From just that short time I don't think it quite deserves the anger that is emanating from many parts of the internet towards it.

There are definitely many areas that need improvement but until they're officially patched there are quite a few mods out already that will help with this. I downloaded a few last night and I'm going to see if they improve the situation. I haven't had a chance to try them out but so far I've got:

Never Enter Stations Again
Better Cockpits (reduced version, not completely removed)
Better Highway Alphas
Shut Up
No "Press to deactivate steering" Notification
Remove Boarding and Unboarding Cutscenes
Realistic Highways

an hour , how far did you get on missions?

wait until your galaxy runs out of resources because the npc traders aren't trading lol....
or you try to build the station modules , or you try to buy a new ship but can't dock on it without crashing to transfer crew.

or the non existent ai just sits doing nothing instead of helping you on missions like the prisoner boarding mission or your trader bugs all the time and you have to keep editing your save file

I just got the captain to the freighter and fought off a couple of fighters. Not very far as I was flying around looking at things for a bit. I'm used to missions crapping out on me in X games, reunion was a shambles when I first tried it with the second or third mission crashing every time I tried it. I'm all about the freeplay, just thought I'd see how bad the campaign is.

your still at the very start then and are yet to encounter all the bugs.

good luck getting that freighter to trade those energy cells

I actually didn't have a problem with this both times I had to do it (because the game crashed on me and I hadn't saved since before I picked up the energy cells). It took ages both times though waiting for that slow freighter to dock. I also hope you don't have to physically fly to each destination every time you want to tell you other ship to make a trade run.

you pretty much do, with the trading computer thing you only have to fly near stations to get all the results but the results only stay on your market tab for a short period of time so you have to play treasure hunt again....

BTW I'm not just slating this game without giving it a chance I honestly tried to persevere but it got to a point where I was just constantly editing my savegame file to get past bugs.

pretty much 30 hours of frustration and 15 afk hours seeing if my station manager would actually trade properly with the ships I assigned to him but he only ever bought stuff and the station never sold any resources it made because the ai traders don't appear to work which is why peoples universes are running out of resources and places are stopping selling stuff

I'll give it another chance once the AI actually works and the mission breaking bugs are gone
