*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

is this still fubared ?

I loved reunion and TC, but all the reviews I am reading to date about rebirth give me the distinct impression that wiping my ass with 2 x £20 notes is better use of the money than buying this ..............

makes me sad as the x series of games were always usally very good. Is it just a case of bugs that are in the process of being fixed or are the problem more fundamental like gash gameplay, gash storyline etc ?

as I posted on the official forum

something along the lines of

"I wish I never bought the game on steam , I should have pirated it and set fire to £40 as I likely would have had more fun watching that money burn than the regret of knowing it went to the people who made this game"

there are some pathetic mini patches so far doing almost bugger all compared to what people are modding to make the game better

The game is fundamentally flawed, the community may save it in the long term but it's going to take an insane amount of work to get it to a decent state.

Basically they've released an alpha version of a bad console port, or at least a very good emulation of one..

The rot is in her bones, lad. The bugs will be fixed - Egosoft have a history of releasing very buggy games and fixing them with patches. But the problems run deeper than just bugs. The game play is bad.

The walking in stations feature was supposed to add immersion to the game, but it turns out to be an unnecessary annoyance. The highways system is just bizarre. NPCs might as well be vending machines for all they add to the game play. The trading interface is clunky. The graphics in the walking in stations sections would have been considered adequate ten years ago.

The problems run deeper than patchable bugs.

I fear they do as the depth of the game seems very shallow with barely any different ships in the game... and you can't even fly them likely because they couldn't be bothhe do to multiple cockpits......

tbh I reckon they were running out of money after 7 wasted years and had to release or never release.

doesn't bode well for them as a company if that is true but oh well elite dangerous and star citizen will fill that gap rather nicely

you would think that far into the future trading posts would be broadcasting into space with something similar to wifi maybe using the space lanes as some kind of relays lol...

It still looks nice from the videos, and I like how you can see the crew but no time acceleration is a bit mysterious to me. I'd like to have different ships too.

Anyone who is bothered by having to enter stations to trade just download the NESA mod. You can contact people from outside the station like in previous games.

I'm glad I managed to pick this up for only £20. I've got hopes for it yet, but for now I'm going back to X3 AP, starting afresh on there.

Given the speed the modding community are tearing into it, it'll be a completely different game in a few months time.

As someone else said, pay Egosoft loads of money for a **** game, then hope the community turns it into a decent one for free.

What an odd situation.

Ask for your money back from Steam, they will *generally* give you one refund on a game. This definitely seems like the right time to make that support request.

Thanks but I was one of the lucky ones who waited a bit so never bought the game. Mainly because I knew I'd be working on launch day and also because of the price I felt it more necessary to be sure it's worth it.

I still feel robbed though somehow lol.

Robbed of a decent game I was looking forward to play.

I have, still been knocked back with the standard " we don't do refunds, please check your drivers" email. I've responded and I'm waiting on their further comment.

Never had reason to contact steam support in the past so hoping I can get that one off credit for my steam account.

we are talking about freighters not selling junk that you only find in stations anyway

Thing is, I also waited. When it was released, I saw some very positive reviews, so I bought it. It was only later, after I'd played a few hours of the game, and wondered how the hell this game got positive reviews, that I discovered the negative reviews.

I was only following this thread really and the links posted here.

The egosoft forums were down at the time.

When they came back up though..... NERD RAGE!!!

That geordie video sealed it for me.
