*** Elden Ring ***

Completed everything in the base game to get 'platinum' and am a few hours into the DLC now, 170 hours total into this game so far and still loving it. The furnace golems are a massive pain though, I just struggled with one so much I think I hate them even more than Crucible Knights :D Going to be sad when I'm done with shadow of the erdtree. My plan is to move onto Sekiro next but I've heard it's a level above elden ring in terms of difficulty? Sounds like the movement is drastically different too...

I did that section recently. (Furnace golems)
 
WTF is this game. As a 39 year old male I never imagined I'd be loading a game like Elden Ring and getting hooked. You see, when I was younger I suffered from quite the gamer rage (Loved me some Counter Strike and Battlefield). Now the remedy was to just put that stuff down, and when things like Dark Souls came along I completely ignored them knowing I'd never get along with them.

Along the path of life I have made big strides with my mental health along with just trying not to take life too seriously overall. I wanted to try something new, something I'd usually dismiss and I wanted to check out the hype. Who knew being utterly pathetic at a game could be so much fun?! Now I'll be honest; It was a "10 things the game doesn't tell you" that brought my interest to the game, so I came in with a bit of an advantage, but I'm just enjoying exploring, finding weird stuff, meeting my demise and then rinse & repeat.

39 here aswell, I finished it for the first time last month in a total of 50 hours, it is a big game but I enjoyed every minute of it.
 
Ok so the dlc....

I am almost finished with the DLC and obviously it's been brilliant.

However there are a few things they should have done better.

For example there is a complete lack of objectives in the game. You basically just roam about like a leaf in the wind.

At the beginning (after having not played the game for 18 months) I found this daunting.

The other thing that struck me is a few days ago I go to the final boss (naturally) but I did so with at least 3 major areas of the map still uncovered.

This should not be. They should have given the player some reason to figure out how to get to all areas of the map before taking on the boss.

So right now rather than just tackling the boss I am trying to uncover all areas of the map and find more scadutree fragments and precious items.

I agree, that was the only issue with the DLC. I think I had only seen 30% of the map.

Also if you have got to the final boss there is a good chance you cannot finish most of the character quests.
 
I never found that to be an issue, whenever you enter a new zone every major focal point is in view so you know what the main objectives of the area are. You can choose to go straight to them or explore the area first.
 
I'm new to this game(and from software entirely) and haven't bought the DLC yet, but I was wondering if anyone else feels bleeds are overrated? This is from a newbie PVE perspective, I don't even know how multiplayer works

But with a generic 55 arcane at like lvl 110'ish build, sure the damage is ok with uchi/naga, or a reduvia/giant knife setup, but plenty of bosses are immune to bleed, and then I'm just putting on some generic hardhitting occult great sword

As opposed to the strength guy I'm lvling now that just 4 shot the draconic tree sentinel and golden shade godfrey at lvl 90, it's so easy to build and play. just pound strength and I'm using the guts look-alike great sword with giant hunt on it, the normal heavy attack(with the appropriate charm) is the best AOE I've used yet since this sword has broken range

Strength giving the 2 hand bonus and colossal weapon poise damage being what it is, combined with giant hunt, makes it so easy to trade into a boss and score a poise break, and then the fight is over.

I hate that all my characters have the ugliest helmet on, that big green wolf thing that gives +2 endurance. The stats are just so much better than everything I've found, like that rusty barnacle set or the bull set

Also why are the heavy armors so absurd looking. Like the heavy fire armor or the ram plate or lionels set
 
I started playing this a few weeks ago and got to the royal capital but haven't touched it in the last 2 weeks. I did enjoy playing but did find the open world of it a bit much at times. Probably get back to it this weekend. I admit I did have to look up on how to avoid missing stuff/bosses as I cant see myself replaying this once I complete it so would rather get as much content in my 1 playthrough.

That's how I played it. 1 play through of the base game. Took me about 165hrs.
 
Yes, ER can be a little overwhelming at times, especially if you're not familiar with FromSoftware games. Personally for me ER was/is at it's best when you go in blind and you are just exploring and finding things on your own, many a time I've back tracked only to find a whole swath of stuff I've missed. And it's always fun finding a new boss and figuring out how to defeat them and the DLC is no less forgiving than the main game, in fact in some places it can be much harder and require you to take a different approach.
 
Didn't manage to find all the Scadutree fragments but was level 19 at the end.

Wasn't very adventurous. Same build and weapons I completed the base game I finished the dlc.

After a long enjoyable journey I’ve finally made it to the end and the final boss of the DLC, but dang this guy is hard. Made it into P2 and got nailed, think this is going to take me more than a few attempts to beat him.

Sekiro isn't that difficult.
More you train the better you get at it.
 
Stuck on the final boss of the DLC, I've spent hours trying and have got tantalisingly close a couple of times but just cannot beat Promised Consort Radahn :( Going to keep trying of course, this boss is so OP compared to anything else so far (base game or DLC), nothing even gets close. Any tips or known cheese to get the job done? I hate this boss so much I'll take any kind of win at this point :D

I cant remember exactly how I did it now, but try and get as many scadu tree fragments as you can obviously. I had I think 19/20 at the end.

Also you know before the fight you can summon an extra npc? (assuming you completed that quest line)

I think I read online by doing this Radahn will have a massive health bar.

So try to only use your mimic tear or what ever your using rather than both the extra npc and the mimic.

The other one is just practice. Learn to avoid the fatal grabs she does in the fight.
