Elden Ring

It is a brilliant game, but don't be disheartened with dying, you will do that a LOT. and yes you can level your character, weapons & magic to help you. My biggest mistake was thinking it was kinda like Elder Scrolls difficult, as long as you keep slashing away you would be fine.... big nope about 30 minutes into it.

Best defence is to run away most of the time, oh and if you see a big dude on a horse when you "arrive" - don't!

That golden horse guy? lol i cheesed it from standing up high and he can’t reach me and i just hit him from above.

I wish he could be respawn though because i want to see how easier it would be now i’ve levelled up.

Still difficult, I got him when I was about level 90 and he still killed me a couple of times! I did try hiding on rocks but that didn't work!

Any tips for builds. It will be ready to play in a couple of minutes.

It doesn't make much difference at the start of the game, I would put points into Vigor until that is about level 25-30 then start on the other attributes, magic is powerful as you'd expect but takes time to find decent spells. I have a strength/dex build with high intelligence.

If you want to lean into magic, pick Astrologer. Also, i would pick the Golden Seed to be the item you get, that gives you an extra flask to begin with which is really useful.

If you want Melee….I guess Samurai? But it really doesn’t matter because once you start farming, you can level up the area you want.

They say Magic is the Easy mode in this game, but i feel like if you spec out the character properly, as in don’t do an all rounder that is average in everything then you will be fine. Whatever you are leaning into, really lean into it.

The Tree Sentinel near the First Step..

Has anyone respec'd their character?
Yeah a few times after Rennala I’ve done a reset. Mostly because when I was low level I put things into strength to wield certain items then after I decided to go mainly magic I didn’t need all that str anymore so put it into hp/fp and int plus a little dex to use Moonveil.

I've got to say I'm a bit stuck! I've reached the dectus lift and from having one half of a medallion to another lift, I can only assume I need similar to use it. I really don't want to look up a guide but I'm getting close! Can anyone give me a hint that isn't just a walkthrough?

I'm still wandering and discovering a few new areas like the Four Belfries, and used two of those, but otherwise I'm a bit aimless and I normally like to mix up exploring with the narrative path.

I also can't find a Somber Smithing Stone [5] for love nor money and I just need that one more +1 to be able to swap my staff over!

I can't recall finding any clues to it's location on my play through and I found it by accident whilst exploring on torrent.

I can tell you though it's in a similar building to the first half of the medallion but in a different area. Should narrow to your search down, not by much though so still a challenge for you. :)

The medallion halves are in forts.

Fort Haight and Fort Faroth.

Haight is on the south eastern side of Limgrave near the coast.

Faroth in north east Caelid, on the cliffs overlooking the Radahn battlefield.

I would run strength/dex early game and build vigor. Then respec to intelligence/dex later on if you want to try some Magic.

I have just done this after getting Moonveil and Swarm of Flies and I’m currently hitting over 560dmg with +9 Moonveil as it scales well with Intelligence. Previously I was only hitting about 360 with +18 Lordsworn Greatsword.

I’m level 90.

Swarm of flies is a beastly spell also given it’s low FP cost but this is a late game spell.

A lot of the magic stuff is later on in the game so standard melee build with good ashes should see you right to start off. Plus if you are doing strength/dex to begin with you can use a decent sword but also a longbow and later a great bow. Gives you ranged options if you want more of a rounded build.

I wouldn’t attempt a magic build early on unless you know what you are doing or have pro level
dodging skills! :p

After the Niall fight - carry on through the castle out the back of the boss room and you will find a pick-up that is a half of a secret medallion. The other half is in an area of Liurnia where there is a location called Village of the Albinaurics.

With both halves of the secret medallion you can go to the Grand Lift of Rold (once you have defeated Morgott) and when you get to the point where you can hoist a medallion you have a “change action” option where you can use left/right on the dpad to select which medallion to use.

Select secret medallion and the lift will transport you to the consecrated snowfields (which is a secret area). If you are following Latenna’s quest you can get a Dragon Sombre Smithing Stone by going to the Apostate Derelict site in this area.

You can then go to the Ordina town and solve the Evergaol puzzle to open a teleport to Miquella’s Haligtree. There’s some useful pickups here.

just grabbed the second part in the village, cheers bud :)

this game is so freaking big, well over 100 hours and still finding stuff woot :)

Finally got Loretta in the Haligtree! Left the Black knight Tiche to it after spraying her with Rot, finished her off with the Radhans Starcaller smash

Finding some good loot past her, but the enemies are something else :o

Thanks, I'll follow that.

I've just stumbled across another underwater river system that turns out to be ******* massive so that's kept me occupied!
