Electric shavers? Advice please.

Do you have link to the model chart?

I think you're probably right as even Amazon have another slightly more expensive version described as wet and dry. They definitely seem to be confused over this model though as one pic has wet and dry, another doesn't, but then they show it being run under water.

The picture of it being shown in running water is just to show you can clean the head with water instead of using the cleaning station.

The good thing about the series 7 is you can buy every spare part for it and it is quite easy to strip down .

Thanks for the link above to the Philips. Let's word this a different way... from people with experience of several shavers what's the best £150 shaver currently? I think many people will say one or other is great but if you've tried several then that would be useful to know.

Thank you :)

Slightly smoother shave on the upper lip , 5 oclock shadow doesnt appear till 3 ish .

Thanks, I'm ordering from Argos in the next 2 hours - http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4176961 so if anybody wants to stop me in that time speak now :D

I can get it £10 cheaper from shavers.co.uk but I don't mind spending the extra for somewhere that is half a mile away if I need to return.

My personel favourites are

1- Panasonic ES LV95 5 blade , smoothest of them all
2- Panasonic ES LA93 4 blade
3- Braun Series 9
4- Philips 3D/9000 (not as smooth as the Braun 7 but quicker)
5- Panasonic RF41 4 blade (bargain if you can get one for £40)
6- Braun Series 7
7- Braun Series 5
Remington , used to be king of the hill , modern shavers are mediocre

oh and dont buy second hand , even if they say they have only used it a few times , you will never know if the crap shave you are getting is down to blunt foils or not.

Good choice , this will mow the stubble down and the blades should last 18 months .
And its got the best looking display of all the shavers.

Awesome, took about 7 minutes to get as close as my protector blade.
It even made mincemeat of my Desperate Dan chin that I have to go over & over with a blade.

The electric razers with >3 blades eg Panasonic ES LV95 5 blade/ES LA93 4 blade
have very broad heads how do folks manipulate these on the kneck area ?
(Cheeks are done in a flash but 75% of time taken by below jaw-line.)

The cost premium with the increased blades seems to be large too, maybe due to the increased foil size, but 3 blade Pan version ES-LT6N (new model of what I currently use) is £95 and £185 for 5 blade... and internal linear motor probably identical.

[re multiple blades manipulation - same goes for safety razers too, although they are much closer together]

The Phillips OneBlade also looks pretty good.

I bought one of these to try it out, it doesn't shave as close as a normal (decent) electric shaver, however it is significantly cheaper. If you're in a rush and don't mind starting the day with a 5'o clock shadow then it's cool. Also seems to work on practically any length hair.

I notice there's a newer version of the Panasonic shavers but they don't seem to be available in the UK.

The older versions of ARC 5 are ES-LV65 (no cleaning station) and ES-LV95 (cleaning station)

Newer models are ES-LV6n (no cleaning station) and ES-LV9n (cleaning station)

Don't think there's a massive difference though

I thought I'd update my review on the Panasonic ES-LV95 now I've had it over a week.
I can now have a closer than razor shave in 5 minutes which is very impressive.
Now this is really weird and I'm definitely not imagining it - for over 20 years at 7:05 in the morning I will have a shave with my Braun series 3 for 5 mins and then I go into the bathroom where I finish off with a razor. 24 hours later I will have a lot of stubble where I need to cut it down with the Braun and then use the razor.
With the Panasonic I hardly have any stubble 24 hours later and I'm sure I could go another day to get the amount of stubble I had with the Braun/razor
With the Braun you knew you were cutting stubble because of the noise it made and on my chin and under it are my really hard spots that I would continually go over & over again with both shaver & razor - the Panasonic does it with ease.
Another funny place for me is immediately below my bottom lip and I find the hard little hairs irritating. 12 hours later those little hairs would be back but now after 24 hours there isn't any

I've got to give this 10/10 because it's changed my habits and facial growth.

they just started advertising Braun 9's on the tv for xmas, save 50%, but they have messed up the advert and pronounce it as brown not brawn - eh ?

still not convinced to take the gamble of going from 3 blade Pan electric to broader 5 blade, with potential manouverability/precision problems on kneck - but thanks for the review.
Braun have had like it or return it deal in the past, not sure about Pan.

Glad you liked it , you should also give some pre shave lotion a try , supposed to give an even smoother and closer shave.
Boots has some for £3 so if you think its crap you havent lost much..
