Elite:Dangerous

Noticed it’s £9.99 on steam, I only have a 290 but I’m interested in it, how would my aging space heater handle this in VR? Also is the game playable with an xbox360 controller? I game from my sofa so I don’t a have a desk for a Hotas setup

I used to run it with a 7950 before I got a 1080ti and it was fine, just had it set vr low in the graphics setting, plays fine on a pad but I'd recommend voice attack for extra controls.

I used to have a 290 and my Vive worked fine on it with the settings cranked down. +1 for Voice Attack too, it is practically essential and really adds to the immersion.

I just bought my first ever Python, I came from a Sidewinder, Then a Cobra MK3, Vulture and then Python, The cockpit is cavernous , I want to get up and walk around but my room isn't big enough ^_^

I've multi crewed with my brother in his anaconda, that's enormous and launching out of it in a fighter has to be experienced.

Elite Dangerous: Commander Deluxe Edition £21.19 (47% off) on steam. Good price? Scared to buy it as it may take over my life.
I don't know what Commander Deluxe Edition comes with. If it's just a bunch of cosmetics then I'd just buy the base game.

Horizons is the expansion and allows for multicrew and planetary landings. To be honest I don't bother with any of that content though.

I find Elite to be a game I dip in and out of. I've owned it since Early Access Beta and have hundreds of hours in it but I have virtually no money due to my play style. I just like blowing things up and end up dying a lot.

It's a big open sandbox and you can do anything you want really but in terms of content, well missions are quite repetitive. You're better of just trying your hand at a spot of bounty hunting, then a spot of mining, then a spot of trading rather than focusing on one career path as it will bore your socks off otherwise.

Get it buy it do it, It's immense !
Done it!

Really didn't take much convincing. Loved it all the way back when it appeared on the BBC micro, bought it for the ZX Spectrum which came with a strange lense device that you had to look through while looking at a code sheet, early DRM.

Well, looking through a lense darkly is a good introduction to the complex command system that you have got to look forward to.

But, E D is awesome in VR. Get Voice Attack. Be prepared for a steep learning curve, and look forward to the point where you realise that ED is an alternative universe...

Here's a hint at some of the sites you'll be seeing :)

What have you adjusted to make the galactic background look like that?

I followed this guide, Also the game does actually have 8K textures in place for things like the galactic background and planets, As well as many more stars etc... so it looks like hubble images but without tweaking the game only uses a max of 2K textures, Probably meant for a future update.
