EMA

I agree that it's stupid. My mum and dad are separated, and I lived with my mum during my A-Levels, and as such I got the £30 a week even though my dad's minted. Kept me in Xbox games though :p
Similar to me, except I saved nearly all of it, put it in an ISA and kept some to pay for car insurance.

I hate the EMA system aswell, my household income is also over 30K so I get nothing. Even £10 to cover my bus fare would be enough.

I'd rather have parents earning over 30k combined, which really isn't an insane amount, than receive £30 a week via EMA.

everyone use to just forge the teachers signatures on the ema sheets when i was there, when they couldnt be arsed to attend :/

il be honest, and say that when i start getting my EMA from sixth form (soon) a lot of that money will go towards my pc and saving for a car, you simply dont need 30 pound a week to spend on books:D. I do think you will get found out unfortunatly :( and i dont think its fair for some kids to have it and some not too.

it would be fair if the parent earning more than 30k a year had to give the child the 30 a week... :p

I'm 16 and I'll be going to college or sixth form in september- but my dad earns over 30k a year so I'm not entitled to EMA. I think this is wrong as most people on EMA will only spend it on booze etc and they don't have to work! I have a part time job and I will be needing to buy travel and books etc.

Will I get found out if I only put my mum's income so I will be entitled to £30 a week?

Don't risk it, if they found out you'll have to pay every penny back.

I agree it is a bit weird how you suddenly can't get a penny if your parents are on 30k, it's not like they're going to give you £30 a week if they're earning that much.

I get £30 a week EMA :p free money!

£100 bonuses if you do well as well :)

Exactly, £30 a week is an insane amount of money for "books". Plus the fact that mine got payed in £60 installments every two weeks just made it worse haha.

I'd rather the same, but what I'm trying to say is my parents don't give e £30 a week to spend on crap (as what the majority seem to do), I have to work for it.

ema is great, its funded my cousins driving lessons, insurance, cannabis and binge drinking. I wish we had it when I was in college

People who earn the £30 a week EMA is going up to £50 a week next year, a statement was released at our college today. Shame I don't get it since I'm 19 :(

I'll try to find a source on the internet about it.

Dunno if the others are rising, I'll ask my tutor tomorrow since he handles all the money for our department.
