I didn't even know ema existed while I was at college. I don't know if it did. My parents certainly weren't well off.
The way I see ema is it's just to make sure not everyone on a low income doesn't become a builder or doesn't go out to full time work after school. More likely if in a low income family if you ask me.
Ridiculous what i've been hearing though, £100 bonuses? £30 a week.
I worked 20+ hours a week plus about another 20 hours of courses, fit a social life round it, it does tired you out.
However, i'll make my kids work at college, i'm not supplying everything for them even though i could easily afford to i think you learn something from working part time at college and uni. Budgeting, the value of money, hard work.
£50 a week is ridiculous, I knew people who earned less in part time jobs when I was at college. £30 is okay at a stretch.
