Endless Space - 4x4 Strategy Space Game ( INDIE )

Time to kick arse! ( there was nothing in the tutorial for AutoFit for my fleets, latest tech! ) oh well time to use auto refit :D

Most powerful fleets in the game but the ai continues to spawn fleets after fleets, every turn another fleet appears it isn't possible!. But they are no match for my advancing red devils, they are like 8000 i'm at 20000 :D

Looks good. I really enjoyed Homeworld 2. Not played anything like that since. Tempted to get this on Steam!

I'm not sure what resemblence or mention of homeworld is for but it's absolutely nothing like it.
Just in case you missed something! :P

Im put off by games that are forced to have the AI spam cheat rather than try to out think the situation in some crafty way (yes i understand almost no game of this type gets by without some lvl of AI cheating).

I wouldn't buy this game until it's patched !, see here

The AI cheat and well last night i actually saw it happen right in front of my eyes on the same planet!

Firstly

Not much to see you think, Planet Lyra 13 Friendly fleets all looks perfectly normal. But what you don't see and i did was the fact that for every 1 of my fleet that I built, the ai built 4 fleets on four planets including LYRA. You'd think that he would have enough planets to do that but no he has 7 planets, that's 7 planets to build 4 fleets in the same amount of turns it took me to build 1 fleet across a number of planets. I had well a lot more planets I dominated one corner of the galaxy and my tech was far higher!. There was also no incoming fleets to those planets as I had the tech and hero abilities to see incoming fleets.

Secondly

Had finally got to Kais and with my destructive power of my high tech thanks to auto refit they were no match for me, atleast I thought so!. The battles just went on and on and on, with and endless supply of fleets from both races that I had got into war with. Where were these fleets coming from?, one such race that was attacking me had 1 fleet coming my way per every damn turn!, they were also stocking fleets at Scorpius notice the trail of fleets heading towards it, these were the yellow guys. I decided that this was a no win situation and decleared a CEASE FIRE!.
Thinking the enemy would finally stop the attacks I tried to leave the system but I couldn't, under cease fire it seems to be bugged whereby if you are in an enemy system under cease fire your fleet can't leave
confused.png

The cheating started again, when the light blue guys were at 3 fleets left and the yellows at 9 by one turn... that's one turn the light blues were at 13 fleets and the yellows at 11!!. Considering i was stuck at the system, There was no fleets coming my way, not one fleet had jumped in my direction from the light blue guys. That's an entire 10 fleets built on the same system on one turn.

Well it is called Endless Space.

Is this better than Galactic Civ 2? I am in the market for a 4X game at the mo, I have but haven't really played MOO2 and Sins original(no expansions), but given the time sinks these are I was going to consolidate on one and spend some time on it, just wanted to know if I would be better off just getting this or Gal Civ 2 for a proper turn based 4X.

I just remebered I also have Star Trek BotF as well. I have all these games I've barely touched. Does Gal Civ 2 cheat as well then?

Nope :)

I noticed on the forums it's less of a cheating issue but rather the difficulty levels are borked, easy isn't easy n such. We shall see

Yeah its taken me like 10 plays to get used to normal difficulty. You have to keep on top of everything. Trade off tech with the AI and keep colonizing planets in your systems.

I love the game personally - its a big challenge but very rewarding.

Gal civ ai cheats passed normal iirc, I've still yet to beat normal though, love the galactic civ ai. Hopefully they will tune endless space's ai up to the same level so it doesn't need to rely on ai cheating to keep it's economy going.

It was the last 4x4 I played, a long time ago. I like having big space battles. Reading more about this game though, the combat is turn based? Or turn based on some sort of galaxy map but actual encounters are real time? If the actual fights are turn based then think I'm put off :(.

Combat is cinematic combat with you being able to influence it using cards which affect the way your ships perform. It looks very Battlestar ish but you have very little control.

Gal civ 2 was much better I thought. This seems quite shallow to me.

To its a pretty awesome game and has a lot of potential, although still does need some work doing to it mainly with the ai and the combat.

I would also like to see actual trade ships implemented instead of the automatic system we have currently, but that might be just me :p

Finally 'finished' my first game. (300 rounds limit fail)

The AI really needs work, GalCiv2 AI really stomps all over it.
Cease fires are REALLY sodding annoying. Any time I come close to annihilation my opponent they call cease fire after cease fire.
Otherwise it is good fun to play.
