endoscopy

Having an endoscopy Tuesday, MRI tomorrow.

Not looking forward to Tuesday but my overall condition has become so bad I’m stuck in bed for months on end.

What started as waves of nausea last summer have turned in to constant relentless nausea the worst I’ve ever had. I was diagnosed with CFS four years ago and haven’t had a day where I ever felt well for about as long but this is truly insane to deal with.

I’ve had multiple MRI’s with contrast in the past but I really don’t want it again, it always makes me feel unwell and I feel extremely sensitive at the moment. I know that traces of it can stay in the body for decades.

They did an US and found a ‘lesion’ in the liver around 2cm so that’s what they are investigating tomorrow.

It may be the cause of all my symptoms or it may just be a total coincidence.

Would like to try Tuesday with just the throat spray but I have a feeling I won’t be able to manage. I always get very low blood pressure and pulse so I’m concerned at the idea of sedation.

Wish I could fast forward a week.

Go for sedation my friend...

Hope they can help you with your issues.

Thanks mate I appreciate it. You are probably right, at least it will make it easier, just endlessly worry these days about every eventuality!

I hate it when the dentist puts that plastic xray holder in your mouth to take xrays of your teeth!!

Gag reflex at the dentist is usually countered by mindful deep breathing through your nose.

For the scope, as I said, death stare at something and breathe through your mouth. I burped a LOT. YMMV :)

If I remember correctly the were 2 sedation types offered. 1 was mild and I could go home straight after. The was more heavy duty and I would have had to wait a couple of hours.
I went for the mild 1.
I felt fine but I do remember the feeling of the endoscope passing over my teeth.

Honestly when I had mine it was fine..almost like a non event really. Yes it's an odd feeling but my best advice is just to tune out from it and let it occur.

Had mine because my relfux issues suddenly turned into a 'does he have the big c concern', it turned out a previous bout of norovirus had absolutely ravaged a lot of the cell walls. Once they knew that they fixed me up pretty quickly and I'm fine now!

So we'll worth doing as does tell them a lot.

I chose against sedation as I'd been advised that I wouldn't be able to drive the next day, needed to drive for work, so just had some gas.

I found it very uncomfortable in the back door, luckily for me that they only had 30cm of bowel to check, the rest was done via my stoma and was much more bearable. Definitely going for the sedation on the next check, thank you very much.

I didn't find the enema at the beginning very pleasant either, god knows why people pay for those!

Tried the endoscopy twice today with throat spray, couldn’t tolerate it. I ended up freaking out big time. Had to abort. Gutted, feel like I let everyone down.

Have to go back at some point for sedation.

It happens.

I went through it without spray and sedation. It was horrendous. I got through it but never again.

I couldn't get it done without sedation either, sedation is what I had.

Hopefully it goes smoothly for you next time mate,.once that sedation goes in you stop giving a ****.

Mate I don’t even know how you managed that. They got just in to my stomach but I was gagging like insanely bad and panic just took over. I’m sure there are much calmer stronger people out there than me that can manage it but something came over me and I just had to end it.

Feel a bit mad with myself but it is what it is.

I was gagging too.

I even pulled the tube out of my mouth with the doctors hand!!! 2nd attempt i just pushed through it. But, if i had to have one again i would choose sedation 100%
