Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Yep, so basically, we are all being taken for a ride whilst all the big fuel companies make double, triple, greatest ever profits.

It isn't inflation. It is legalised theft.

Capitalism has failed.
Yet they lost more on backing out of Russia. Don’t read headline numbers. Read the full results

guardian report- 200MW energy saving were a drop in the ocean, when they were firing up gas turbines at £6000/MWh to meet shortfalls.

Rye is 700MWh apparently.

This is specifically why the savings sessions are good.
These energy suppliers of last resort were the ones who bid the highest on supply rates and as such get used infrequently, but make $$$$ when they do get used.

IMO paying individuals close to that to reduce consumption is way better than just paying these profiteering suppliers.

We need more elec suppliers on board to the schemes, or to encourage people who would do their bit to move to Octopus

Biggest profit in 114-year history
similar to shell though less than 10% from UK extraction.

--

yes governent announced early jan new cap will be £3K ie £500 more, but obviously no £69/m for the squeezed middle,
not sure what help will be given to older retired/pensioner relatives, not on benefits(where the £400 is helping from April)

The energy sessions need to have guaranteed outcome before they could be deployed in anger - if you've had to pre-warm up the coal station or gas turbine generator as a contingency,
their is additional expense already incurred.

I don't give a **** that about the UK percentage. Inflation is worldwide. Worldwide greed by the already mega rich.

Most of the profit was made overseas. The dividends will go to large investors many of whom will be UK pension funds. Surely we should be happy that BP is making profit that the UK benefits from. The momey can be invested in UK energy production for instance.

So some people get a few quid more on their pension whilst paying hundreds /thousands more to fuel their car and heat their house...

Brilliant.

Many of those "large investors" will again be the already mega rich who will skim the cream and add it to their already very large fridge full.

Daily mail is strong.

Just find it odd when they aren’t a utility company. It’s a global set price. And demand exists so someone has to supply. We banned ourselves from buying Russian hydrocarbons and so prices rose. Those upset with the prices are probably raging about the war too but can’t have cake and eat it.

Work in the industry / educated in the industry. Indeed.

Again 2020 huge loss. No bailouts required but quickly forgotten now
