Can't be much different to my local power plant. Literally mountains of wood being burned. I'm told it's 'green' but really seems to defy all logic.
Still a decent chunk of change for many.Green levies only add about £300 to a bill of £4000 a year
Green levies and VAT could shave about £500 off a bill then come January. Not quite insignificant any more.

It seems it's just convenient to ignore all the other emissions burning wood gives off and just focus on CO2 to say it's "green" that doesn't include the fact you have to cut the tree down to get the wood, otherwise the tree would live for years not decomposing because it's still aliveThe burning of wood is considered to be carbon neutral as it does not release more CO2 into the atmosphere than if the wood were to decompose naturally, although this CO2 is released in a very short space of time.
