Don't understand why more people are not just buying a second hand 250W and up solar panel (under £100) and a micro grid tie inverter for it(£50)
And just place them somewhere in the sun, that will cover most background use during daylight, this setup will just plug into a 3 pin socket.

Is it really so simple? Any links to the inverter?

Got a link to such a deal?
I fancy doing my own at some point.

This might be of interest to some.

My background electricity use for today, easy to see how quickly it can mount up.

All the spikes are the fridge/freezer and this a A++++ rated appliance medium size.
Anyone with a big American style one will be double the wattage I'd imagine.

The battery is powering the house.

The flat line is when the battery is not powering the house as its on the "GO" cheap rate.

You think scummers steal from their own neighbourhood? They go to where you live in the nicer areas as nobody has anything worth nicking in their home town! Lol :p
Yeah best invest in some weapons - once they’ve finished looting the high streets they’ll be looking for who has lights on..

Im interested if the DIY solar panel rig can cover normal energy usage. It cant cover a kettle boiling and bigger stuff but I get it could be useful overall.
Is it worth it, 200 watts every hour for a day is 2 quid or so of electricity at October rates ? Just thinking for the non specialist people, its a great project for those who enjoy it but compared to various ideas to alter a large bill. "GO" isnt available without a car to charge right or I'd say just get the battery and use that

Quick bit of fag packet maths, my 4.2kWh install generates 4000kWh per year. Scale that down and a 200 watt panel will generate around 180kWh, at current prices of 28p pkWh that will save you £50 per year.

My Octopus prediction, to make you all laugh. Obviously I plan to up my payment a little more, breakeven looks to be about £375 a month.

About me - detached 3 bed, 2 adults, 2 kids under 8. I work from home 95% of the time, average use of cooker etc.

Let’s be honest about it it’s quite clear they don’t really care. They will do the minimum they think they can get away with.

They need voting out to show them how unacceptable their behaviour has been.

We don’t really have a government.

They are not doing anything at all, they are none existent.

The ******* traitorous cretins have already sucked all the value out of this country for them and their mates.

You could install a decomposing banana in number 10 and it would make better decisions.

Don’t worry though Doris still thinks Boris or Truss are the saviours of our nation.

******* scum.

And labour just want to give everything not saying you’re wrong but we need a new colour with balance that will never happen though

But it is time for a change of control
