Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

My fix isn't quite so exciting.

If we are getting the 66 a month still.. Looks like I'm going to be contributing to some more inflation!

I know this has to happen. But makes me wonder if it's going to super charge inflation. Especially with high earners getting a chunky tax cut

I assume the £400 will be getting scrapped. Maybe they should give it as cash ala eat out to help out… kick start the economy?

Should still be a windfall tax on the producers, crazy how much they’ll make whilst we foot the bill for years.

BBC news reporting that prices will be frozen at the current cap for this winter and next.
Yep, it's great news. I was hoping Sunak would be PM and give more handouts, but this is much better and now I'm happy Liz Truss won. Current energy prices frozen for 18 months and energy companies taking out government loans. Going to be millions of happy people instead of the predicted worry of fuel poverty.

I don't agree with the proposed tax cuts but high energy prices are driving inflation so the cap should help.

Remember the April price cap was still a big increase over last years prices, it just seems small to what we were expecting next month / year.

The delay on announcing this is disgraceful though, people and businesses have signed contracts for higher energy prices thinking there was no support coming.

I guess this means we have 2000 a year fuel prices for a decade.

One positive. It makes calculating solar benefits etc easier

So. Our national debt is obviously going to skyrocket. It has to.
But giving 1000s extra to the most well off seems irresponsible.

Short term is much better. Long term is a little concerning

It also means people will care less (again) about how much energy they're using so will likely cause similar or increased usage against constrained supplies. Pushes us closer to blackouts...

Let’s not forget that current prices are still very high for many people.

The tax cuts were also necessary. We are really uncompetitive compared to US and other major non-European economies. We are traditionally not a socialist country but have a tax system like one which hurts competitiveness and attracting people here.

Thanks, so she's fixing it at 28p? That means for me personally my bills will 'only' double from November not Quadruple. Still bad, but not as bad.

Now if I can offset that with some energy savings I might be alright.
