They will only bill you for what you used. That figure could be estimated if you don’t give a reading at the right time.

I know but I fear they will bill me by DD, then refund, which I might have to chase.

I did give both suppliers the same reading of the switch date.

I cancelled DD with my last supplier as I expected them to mess it up. Paid by credit card once the final bill was in place. Was no problem.

Yea, I saw that episode. They don't check all suppliers (those that don't pay them any commission), so better options will still be out there.
