Energy Suppliers

That's actually the third rise this year. I believe the others were April and August but 11% is the biggest by far. This is the rumoured November one I presume? Even more glad I left before the August one now. At least it's penaly free to leave Bulb at any time.

just re-quoted Bulb well the gas has shot up +33%/kWh and electic +8%/KWh

so personally averages about 10% delta on yearly bill ... why don't they just be up-front on the unit increases,
got 2 months to build my own windmill

Renewable energy supplier Bulb is raising its prices following “substantial increases” in the wholesale cost of gas and electricity.
A typical annual bill will now cost £1,025, up from £923 – a rise of £8.50 per month or £102 per year.
The rise will apply to Bulb’s more than 750,000 members on its single Vari-Fair tariff and comes into effect on November 11.
Households switching to Bulb from now on will start on the new rates.

That's rather nasty. Prices don't go up until November 11th but new customers get hit with the price rise straight away. Even the big 6 don't do that!!

Probably less nasty than the bait and switch of hooking someone in with low prices before an immediate price rise.

Happened to me switching to a fairly large supplier (I forget which, maybe Scottish Power) about 11 or 12 years ago. I was a bit inexperienced and signed up with a door-knocker, who made a lot out of their rivals all raising prices but they hadn't. The price rise was declared the very next day! (I cancelled the sign-up, but still....)

My account isn't active yet (sent my first meter reading) and got the email saying they want increase my payment for the next three months. Though, I think that's simply not increasing DD, rather than not putting me on the prices.

Still, for me it's cheaper than npower who I'm with and there's a sense of doing good for the world being with them (re: their green intentions) and I'm happy to pay a bit for that.

Looks like im switching from Bulb to Octopus then. Bulb will be going up to £880 a year, Octopus can fix at £813. There are cheaper they all have mixed feedback.

There is Avro at £763 as well, they any good.

Why on earth did Bulb wait until now to raise the price in one go? Why didn't they increase it slightly over the last few months?

My loop energy monitor is recommending EON.

I'm starting to be pushed away from Bulb. There are several companies which are now working out cheaper. Outfox The Market seems stupidly cheap, saving me £180 per year. Compared to the next best saving of £90 per year.

So, as @ChrisD. asked, has anyone tried Outfox the Market?

Looking at reviews they get very mixed feedback. Not one I would trust.

Just swapped over to Octopus energy with a £50 referral to me and a friend. I was with Scottish power for over 10 years but approx 6 months ago I got a smart meter fitted and the price skyrocketed from paying £115 pm to over £200. Something not right with the system so Ive told them to stick it. Ill pay any outstanding owed to them and cut my ties.
