England V India ***Clash of the Heavyweights*** Test, T20 and ODI Series

On another note, I tuned into TMS for the first time this series. I must say, much better than the crap that Sky Sports is churning out, and as good as the Star Sports coverage :)

I think that's quite unfair tbh. I think the sky commentary and indeed the sky team are excellent. Lloyd is a legend of the same stature as Boycott

I don't think it's unfair at all.

Lloyd is funny at times, but little more than that. Nasser is good, but most other commentators aren't great. Shane Warne loves stating the damned obvious. 'England need a wicket here, preferably Dravid but even Yuvraj will do'

Really?! REALLY?! Was there any point during their bowling that England wouldn't have liked to take a wicket?

Another one, can't remember which commentator, said, as India took the lead:

'England will start to worry now'

Come on, it's only now, that India reach England's score that they start to worry. 'Oh crap guys, India just reached our score, how the hell did that happen, I didn't even notice!"

Also, I generally get a hint of bias from the Sky team. At one point during the Lord's test match they were criticising Dravid's technique for a shot that he plays all the time, that brings him a lot of runs and brought him a fair few boundaries today. I can't understand why they were trying to poke holes in his technique, he's the 2nd highest run scorer of all time, and he's known as 'the wall' because he is so solid.

On the other hand, Henry Blofeld was very fair, he was telling it like it is, and was also very pleasant to listen to.

Not fantastic, absolutely awful decision to give Harbhajan out. Useless umpiring, I could see from here that it wasn't out. Ah well, India still fairly well set to have a 60-70 run lead

He should have reviewed it, ohh wait sorry I forgot the Indian cricket board decided they didn't want it, what a shame...

EDIT:Bell batting at 3, this is what I like to see. Just a shame they only decided to put him there because of Trott's injury when really he should be batting there every match...

Hmmm, some people accusing Laxman of using vaseline. He's a legend of the game, I can't believe people would bring his integrity into question :(

The fact that we've had so many bad lbw decisions in this series doesn't suggest to me that DRS is needed, it suggests to me that the standard of umpiring really needs to improve. If the crowd can see that these decisions are wrong, then why can't the umpires?

Now people aren't even sure that Hotspot is accurate...

Why can't they either accept that he wasn't out, or that the tech simply isn't all its cracked up to be?

I partially agree with you, the over-use of Technology has caused a decrease in the skill of umpires. But completely removing it like the Indian Cricket board decided isn't going to solve the problem, the umpires need to be re taught but still have DRS just to remove the odd dodgy decision(Because after all, they are only human)

Technology isn't perfect, but it is miles better than not having it imo. Plus put LBW's back into DRS and it makes it abit more tactical, at the moment they are wasting reviews on pointless appeals because they ahve nothing to save them for, but with LBW's suddenly captains really have to think what they do review and what they don't.

What he said! A lead of 250 will make this an interesting match I reckon.

Oh and yes, agreed on the whole DRS thing. Pretty stupid from the ICC. Match could be quite different if we had the complete system.

Yeah its a shame that this marvelous sport is ruined by the fools who run it, the stupid Indian Cricket council, oops I mean the International cricket council ;)

Well this match is going to swing on the head to head battles between the 2 sides batsmen.

Trott vs Dravid (Both defensive slow scoring batsmen)
Laxman vs Pietersen (Both have that bit of flair)
Strauss? vs Tendulkar (Not sure who Englands opposite of Tendulkar is)
Bell vs Raina
Morgan vs Yurvaj
Prior vs Dhoni
etc.

Going to be a good few days.

Crikey, Vaughany has upset the a few of the Indian fans with "Vasolinegate". Seemed like an off-the-cuff remark to me. Sportsman on Twitter strikes again.

Indian cricket fans are hilarious, so vitriolic! I love cricket but it's a very difficult sport to get aggressive or upset about, it just doesn't seem in the spirit of the game. :p

Regarding the hotspot business, this is why I really dislike technology in sport. It looked like a legitimate edge to everybody - there is literally no other explanation for the noise as the ball passes the bat yet they are unable to overturn the decision. Imagine if the umpire had given it out and it was overruled despite the clear noise!

Then imagine if India had been bowling! :D

I am getting fed up of the number of pundits saying that these two teams are fighting out for the number 1 spot. Not true. India occupies that spot, England is in the number 3 spot, and actually England's trying to dislodge India. That's actually what's happening.

As I type, Strauss edges to Dhoni off Sreesanth 57/2

Strauss edges off Strauss? So he bowled it while batting?

Also, the result of the series decides who gets the number 1 spot, so yes, I would describe that as them fighting for number 1.. I think you're just trying to nit pick and create a storm in a teacup here tbh, just calm down and enjoy the cricket.

Sorry, I meant Strauss edges off Sreesanth :p

But India has occupied the number one spot for nearly two years. If India win this series, they don't get the number 1 spot do they? Because they already have it ;)

This is another series where India is defending their crown, that's the proper way of looking at it. I don't think it's a storm in a teacup. Sure, I agree that it is a small detail, but it's a wrong detail and it's annoying me :o
