Englands World Cup Failure

Because we played Upson in defence. Who has played for West Ham last season and nearly got relegated. You wouldn't pick a defender from Hull, Burnley or Wolves, so why choose West Ham? Should have picked Dawson to play.

Though that isn't the whole reason we did pap. I poses the question, can we still play Lampard and Gerrard in the same team (though they will be too old for the next World Cup).

I think they ought to immediately drop the players that will be too old for the next World Cup and start playing the youngsters. It's the only way, Germany did it, and look where they are now.

Rooney was the worst player out there, I haven't really seen him do much at all in our 4 games.

Our marking was bad and there were some sloppy touches, other teams just seem to try harder.

Was a bit of a hammer blow losing Ferdinand and then King, probably 1st and 3rd respectively in the pecking order.

our players weren't even match fit it's obvious by the way they were struggling to tackle back they simply don't care about the national game all they care about is their club positions and salary

We need a player like that Ozil, he looks great, is he 21 too?

We needed his 10 mates as well :p

King was just a waste of a position taking him. Everyone thought that for some reason he was going to be able to string a few games together without being injured despite his history of injuries. And as the games come thick and fast the further you go, it was stupid to take someone that wasnt going to be your main choice CB because he is never fit enough to play.

Rooney was hailed as our saviour and even Heskey out shone him with his assist goal. He didnt even have the passion to get himself sent off! Instead he just complained like a little girl about every little tackle on him. Even resorted to a few dives in that last game

And after the group stage where we scraped through by our fingertips in the easiest group and we are surprised we got hammered by Germany?

The England plane might as well have stayed in England, because none of the players showed up to the competition.

John Terry and his affair with Vanessa Perroncel.

Looking back, I wonder if it all fell apart at that point?

We seemed to qualify with ease yet could not play for **** when it came down to it.

Something had broken within the team, and I wonder if Terry was the catalyst?

We lost 4-1 yet imo the best man on the pitch for us was James, and he was poor imo! :(

A manager that looked like Postman Pat and who could not speak the language probably did not help, perhaps we need a proper manager? Somebody like Hand of God Diego? We all laughed at Argentina picking him for the national side, they will probably go on & walk it......

The Premiership will kick off and the majority of the England "Team" will be back to £100k per week and not giving a **** for the cause imo.

Its the fans I feel sorry for, especially the ones who paid so much to support them.

I am telling you they were not match fit they have a long hard season and soon as it ends they are on the pies last thing they want is a world cup after a long hard season.
Even franz said last week the england squad looked jaded and i honestly truly believe taht our players really don't care they are materialistic chavs.

"Capello said. "But I say again, I am sure that a big mistake from the referee stopped us from going forward.""

sack the idiot

He has a point really. Who knows what kind of effect on the game the score being 2-2 would have been? Germany may have panicked, and started playing defensively, thus creating less chances while England may have picked up the pace, and the morale certainly helps.

Choice of squad, choice of team, persisting with out of form players, bringing on substitutes too late to change anything, bringing on Heskey when we need goals.

Yes I blame Capello he seems a bit clueless to me or has simply done it all on purpose to get the sack and a big payoff.

Again Rubbish, utter rubbish, we were EXACTLY as crap today as we've been in every game for two years, and actually more like 8-10 years. WE were CRAP in qualifying, we went behind to some truly terrible teams in qualifying, sure we won in the end but all the mistakes that cost us in the game but not the final score, cost us in the world cup.

Terry being slow, but actually quite good, Barry being incredibly crap, Gerrard having a terrible season and never once working well with Lampard, never once being able to stay where he's put on the field by the manager, etc, these things caused us to play below par football but against the worst teams in the world it didn't cost us many points. Against better teams its EXACTLY the same problems, but against teams that could actually punish us for those mistakes and they did punish us.

We pretended nothing was wrong when we struggled against your San Marino types, and then act surprised when the same problems help us lose 4-1 to Germany, who really should have won the game 8-2.

Nothings changed and Terrys little affair made no difference, none at all.

Overrated players that play in teams mainly with foreign players and those players make the likes of Rooney, Lampard, Terry look good when in fact they are distinctly average

or

Fantastic players who just couldn't give a **** about the world cup and rather play club football.

Take your pick.

You can say it, but you're wrong, its really that simple, Rooney was bored upfront without getting a single decent pass. Only so many times you run along the back four and peel off hoping for a ball in behind, only to see the ball go long to Heskey and straight back to the opposition.... before you stop making the runs.

We didn't track back because, Barry DOES NOT TRACK BACK, its nto his game, never has been his game and cost us for years, and cost City and Villa aswell. Johnson also does not track back, again its not in his game, he's constantly caught out of position, its bad players, not lack of fitness. Ashley Cole rarely got forward in the first two games, seemingly being told to stay back, and with a big Gerrard shaped hole in front of Cole, we looked crap on the left. Capello, at the urging of everyone in the world asked the fullbacks to get back more, largely to support Gerrard refusing to stay out wide. Unfortunately Cole going forwards, with little support from Gerrard high up the field meant he was constantly caught forwards, while Chelsea and previously ARsenals central midfield would hold up players letting Cole get back in time, a midfield without any defensive sense at all got us caught by fast counter attacks time and time again with Cole way out of position.

Bad management, poor choice of players, lack of working system, no one covered for anyone at all throughout, smeg all to do with fitness, everything to do with a awful team that can't play well together and a few of the players who simply aren't close to good enough.

what i hated seeing was foreign teams thinking about passing 2 or 3 moves ahead, like theyre all in sync with each other. England on the other hand was "just pass to be the first person you can see, forget the 2nd pass", we possess the ball but on the backfoot. Tbh ever since the own goal we played like the England of old, panicky desperate football which agonising to watch.
