Englands World Cup Failure

When Cappello was appointed manager he adamantly stated that he would pick players on form and that reputation meant nothing. Well that was a load of ***** wasn't it?
I would not of started Rooney today. Nor would I of started Lampard. I would play wingers who can actually play on the wing and who have pace.
And where is Crouch? He is a goal scorer yet he didn't get on at all!

Both Defoe and Rooney have outscored Crouch this season...so surely he was picking them on form?

Why wouldn't you have started Rooney? Who would you have started? DO you really think Crouch and Defoe would have done anything today?

Gerrard in particular to me was all over the place, so undiciplined. So where others but he was supposed to be the captain.

Rightly or wrongly, Gerrard's 'position' appears to be something tactical rather than a lack of discipline.

More or less since Capello's taken over we've played the same way with Gerrard playing 'from the left'. When Capello was criticised by Harry Redknapp last year 'for playing Gerrard on the left', Capello hit back saying he wasn't and that he's given a free-role.

The Premiership will kick off and the majority of the England "Team" will be back to £100k per week and not giving a **** for the cause imo.

I think this is the catalyst.

They could have also acted a little more proffesionally than constantly moaning how they were being forced to live like monks during the world cup, or moaning because England fans thought they were **** - and rightfully so England have been excruciating to watch.

What did they want?

Clubs, drugs and each others girlfriends?

Lack or professionalism imo.

On paper yes but realistically we were massively out played by Germany, Upson's goal came out of nowhere and we had hardly strung 2 passes together in the final third before Lampard's "goal" I can't see how the game would have been wide open, Germany had showed how easily they could cut us open and were dominating the midfield.

We were lucky to only be 2-0 down but the time between Upson's goal and their 3rd goal, we were the better side imo. It was only once the 3rd goal went in that we fell apart (and before Upson's goal we were a mess obviously), and had we gone in at 2-2, who knows how the 2nd half would have panned out.

Hahaha anyone seen the interview on sky with Prince Harry...

"I think we have played great , the players gave their all and I think the whole of the UK will appreciate the effort they have put in"

What the hell team were you watching in the cup Harry??

In fairness, he can hardly go and directly criticise them, "I thought they were ****ing terrible, no effort, no commitment, my grandmother will be disgusted with them".

He'd maybe be better off making no statement at all, as opposed to a contradictory one.

He is a member of royalty anyway, I don't see why they have been so involved this year.

I can't remember royal accession into football before?

(Imo)

Why not? Isn't this part of our problem (in many things in society not just the football) , this odd belief that we are for some reason not allowed to speak our mind or tell the truth.

If something is wrong or poor, then that should be said, not sugar coating the issue or just avoiding saying the truth. You improve nothing in life by not being honest in its assessment.

Mainly, I would have said, because the players are all too concerned with their own image and self promotion, and couldn't care less about playing for England. They have their own personal fortunes to cultivate, and this is bettered mostly by champions league and domestic league football.

Not one of them has ever made me think he wanted to play for his country.

There is way too much of a circus surrounding the England team. Golden boy Beckham on the bench even though he left football behind years ago to go state side and the prince's meeting up with team for some positive PR for the royals.
