English, CL & Europa League Football [12th - 18th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

So so easy and such a joy to watch, complete control/patience. They seem to play at a slow pace just pass it around until they see a gap and then they whack it through the gears.

And Berba doesnt have the same control as Messi his is just sublime there isnt a better footballer on the planet, no one can turn the game like he can and what he does is predictable but he does it so well in such tight spaces with immense control its so hard to stop.

Here we go again Spawn putting down anything English, it's what he does best.

Here we go again someone who cant engage their brain before spouting off rubbish a la Locky...another biased Utd fan i see lol

LOL listen go cry me a river then:rolleyes:...im just telling it like it is...Messi is far far better than Rooney...how is that putting down anything english:confused:...

Barca have to be odds on favourites now for winning the CL again...they have completely and systematically taken apart Stuttgart....i just hope Arsenal dont play them in the next round...we will get utterly demolished by them.

And Marouane Chamakh, whos been heavily linked with Arsenal scored a lovely header for Bordeaux...if he does come to Arsenal in the summer i hope he does score a lot of goals for us.

Quick note...

The commentator said Barca played UTD when UTD werent at their best, is this true?

Me personally I feel UTD were pretty much at their best and got nullified by Barca's play, its neigh on impossible to play when you dont have the ball.

Not sure if UTD have improved since then enough to win it.

Looking forward to the draw to see who has who :D

Barcelona were very good...especially Messi...and it was quite clear to see the difference between them and a Premier League game! Although Stuttgart were very poor, they would get beat by a few PL teams..

Barca seem to be happy to pass it around...and then someone makes a run and they make that killer pass/cross and they are in...or just pass to Messi :D

I have to say though it definately would be close if they played Man Utd. As long as Man U don't let them settle in their game..by pressing and not letting them have time on the ball, something they have done VERY well in recent games, then they would have every chance. Man U would be a lot more physical, and also get the ball wide a lot more then Barca, who seem to completely disregard passing to the wings and attacking, but just go straight through the middle.

As for Rooney Vs Messi, I would have Rooney in my team any day. His skills with the ball may not be the same as Messi, but finishing definately is, if not better, not to mention everything else like crossing, work rate, determination, and strength.

One of the best team performances I've seen all season and one of the better induvidual performances for Messi, almost every time he touched the ball he made a chance. Sublime

Messi scored his 33rd goal this season tonight so hard to differentiate on finishing.

I'm a big fan of Rooney, but Messi is better. If theres a player that can open up a defence when you most need him it's Messi (yes I watched the 08 CL final, but one example isn't enough).

A2Z im sorry but what?

Dani Alves and Maxwell along with Pedro/Jeffron/Henry are ALWAYS on the wing lets not forget that Messi is usually out on the right so not getting the ball wide is rubbish.

Work rate/determination probably to Messi strength to Rooney but mainly as Messi is what 5ft lol

Finishing Messi is ahead as well, 33 goals in 36 games? Lets not forget he doesnt score many headers a lot of his he works him selfs AND finishes.

Fool  Very Very far from being a manu fan lol

You people really can be pathetic. Who cares who is better out of Rooney and Messi? They are both so damn good, it really doesn't matter. They are both priceless to their club and country, and equally important.

But with all that, they are completely different players. Stop arguing about who is the best and start enjoying watching some of the best football players you will see.

Ridiculous.

Pretty sure that's already been confirmed.

Nothing official is there? Ruddy hope not, we've got 862 strikers and central players. Nasri has been massively better as a withdrawn striker in the past few games, he's a far far better player centrally, as is Arshavin, and Bendtner, Vela, Eduardo, Ramsey, Fabregas, Theo and yet we in this system, have two positions between them. Buying another striker would be utter utter madness. Still a lack of real pace and real natural wingers, CB's(with gallas probably going), DM's, and back up cover. Traore, Silvestre, Gilbert and that poor kid we put in at right back in the cup was it who got torn a new one, Denilson, none of them are good enough as even our rotational/backup squad.

We should be spending money on first team and depth where we're short, not the single position we have 15 odd players all competing for.

Either way, Barca were pretty good, but the tie should have been more interesting, the first leg Stuttgart would have likely been 3/4-nil up at half time with 2 stone wall penaltys, a 3rd for a handball that would have been harsh but do get given and several extra yellow cards. Stuttgart ripped Barca apart in the first game and were by far the better team, second game was all Barca but Stuttgart were playing like they'd already had a commanding lead denied and had no chance of winning, they played with no belief.

No idea but rumours abound that Chamakh will be coming to Arsenal on maybe a free from what i last read...if we do get him then maybe its time to offload one of our poorer players...as long as his finishing is good and doesnt miss too many sitters then im all for him coming to Arsenal.

I wouldnt...id rather have Messi in my team as he compensates for what is lacking ie Henry had a stinker of a game tonight but Messi made sure that scoring 2 goals and having a hand in the other 2 that no one really paid any attention to Henry...its a shame to see him perform so badly....definitely not at his best...good thing we got rid of him as hes been nowhere his best that he was for Arsenal.

Messi just as much a better crossing, work rate and determination as Rooney has...cant really say much for his strength as the La Liga seems to be a lot less physical and more technical skills.

Messi doesn't have the work rate that Rooney has, sorry but anyone who isn't biased would agree on that one.

Spanish league doesn't require their centre forwards to track back at all, Rooney does on many occasion, especially if he loses the ball.

Either way, two fantastic players in their prime at the moment it would seem. :)
