English, CL & Europa League Football [12th - 18th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

Don't get me wrong, Rooney is currently playing exceptionally well, easily in the top 3 players in the world on current form, but Messi is just streets ahead of everyone, he can do things no-one else can.

So can Berba (and probably a few others) doesnt automatically mean Messi is still the best, Im not sure who is and I would actually go so far as to say that Ronaldo despite the number of goals he scores is too petulant to even be considered as good as Messi or Rooney

Can Berbatov score a hat trick inside half an hour to decide a very important and very tense league game, every goal being spectacular?

:p The things Messi does are slightly more effective than the things Berbatov does. That's what Messi has over the likes of Berbatov, he has amazing tricks but couples them with ruthless efficiency and consistency

LOL arguing about whos better....Messi, Ronaldo or Rooney....even Berbatov has been thrown in there lol.

Everyone else will say Messi is better than Rooney, Ronaldo and even Berbatov:rolleyes:...but leave it to the Utd fans to say that Rooney is much better lol.

From BBC gossip column:

"Arsenal defender Gael Clichy says he has struggled with the club's new 4-4-3 system this season.

Maybe it's from playing with 12 players?!

I'm a United fan, and I love Rooney, but Messi's on a different planet to anyone else.

His control of the ball always reminds me of the old Micropose Soccer on the C64. There was no dribbling. The ball was glued to the foot.

Berbatov's incredibly skilful, but he's nowhere near as good as Messi. His creativity, vision, dribbling, teamwork and goalscoring record walks all over Berbatov. Rooney's a class act without a doubt, but him and Messi play different positions so it's harder to compare the two.. as is Berbatov and Messi I guess :p

What's your point?

United fans could quite easily say it's because he plays for United that people wont rate him as good as Messi. Likewise Ronaldo because he used to play for us.

There are things Rooney does better than Messi, there are things Messi does better than Rooney. To compare them both when they have different playing styles is pointless. Ronaldo was never the best player in the world according to a lot of fans of Premiership teams, and it wasn't until he left Man Utd that people actually appreciated how good he really was during his time at Old Trafford. It's no different with Rooney. Some appreciate how good he is, others think he's overrated.

I think I should make it clear that I was simply pointing out that Rooney played in the Premiership where as Ronaldo and Messi play in La Liga :p

Not saying I don't rate Rooney, this season he is incredible and probably leads the pack behind Messi, and there's probably little to choose between the two

Rooney is having an incredible season but people forget a lot of his goals are put on a plate for him by the players around him. I think that was the difference between Ronaldo and him, Ronaldo's a lot of the time was individual brilliance that got him the goals whereas Rooney relies a lot on his team mates' crossing, passing etc. It would be interesting to see how Rooney faired in a Hull side :D

Little harsh to criticise him for that, last season people criticised him for not being in the box waiting for crosses and now he's getting criticised for being in the box and getting on the end of crosses :p

Not once did I criticise him

He relies a hell of a lot on decent delivery, which is what all strikers rely on. Not a problem with that, but his team mates should be praised a lot for that. Rooney has improved dramatically at finishing though, especially heading. Can only get better too.

No Ibrahimovic for Barca tonight. Playing Pedro up with Henry and Messi for some reason

Pedro is brilliant, got a great goal scoring record. Henry will play through the middle probably, he was excellent there at the weekend, his link up play with Messi was top notch

Will be watching the match as a spectator tonight but at least I got it on my telly.
