English Football [1st - 5th May 2010] **spoilers**

im sure chelsea have also had their fair share of injuries, cole, bosingwa, cech, etc

not to mention the biggest one in essien.

Man.U. also have the benefit of having one of the best managers there's ever been who knows the PL inside out & how to play certain teams whereas Chelsea have some n00b who's been caught out a few times tactically and has a feral left eyebrow.

Agreed we've been poor in the games where we could have taken a commanding lead in the title race. Though our record against Arsenal, Utd and Liverpool is impressive...6 wins out of 6.

I didn't realise that, you can't ask for more in the big games.
Losing to Wigan & Everton away plus dropping points v the likes of Hull is something that needs addressing though.

Yeah, I am quite pleased that it went this far for united to be honest. Me and a mate support man utd and chelsea and love to wind each other up but this season has been mad.

Chelsea have got the better squad at the moment by a bit I think, united have got the mentality and manager though. Its been bizarre watching Chelsea demolish a side 7-1 only to watch a poor 1-0 loss a few weeks later.

United dont really deserve the title this year, not sure anyone does based on the form of the season. Someones got to though so congrats chelsea.

I still find it hilarious when people say winning against the top 4(well top 3 and 7th :p ) isn't important. Take Chelsea's total take away the 18 points they took off them and give Liverpool, Utd and Arsenal 6 points extra each and look where they'd be.

Alternatively take the 6 points off the top 4 teams and add 4-6 wins to Arsenals totals, winning against the top 4 is the difference between the title, and 1 point away from winning.

Yep 11 goals scored and 1 conceded in the 6 games. Which makes it doubly frustrating when we go and lose against weaker sides.

Then Chelsea get .....and Im sorry but there is no other word for it....gifted 7-0/7-1 wins from players /managers who should know a lot better

Dont get me wrong, Chelsea played well in those games - even VERY well, but there is really no excuse for that kind of result apart from the players just giving up

That's just daft mate, AV & Mo'N would not in a million years give up against anyone neither would Stoke or Pulis, crap point.

Chelsea deserved those wins, they played very very well against Villa. Yes, Stoke were probably mentally on holiday, but that doesn't explain such a big win, Chelsea played fantastically. In all honesty United haven't played well enough this season to deserve winning a game 7-0. Our best result this season was probably against AC Milan in the CL, and they are a team who are mostly past it.

Although I would be somewhat concerned about the age of the team if I was a Chelsea fan, they have a better squad than United. As a United fan I'm concerned with the reliance on Rooney to score goals, and with the strength of the defence if any of the first choice defenders are injured.

Chelsea have deserved the title this season. It may not have been the most spectacular or the highest standard of premier league seen for a while, but the best team still won imo.

Don't know if everyone has forgotten but there's one more game remaining this season! It might be likely but it's not Chelsea's title yet and you're going to look very foolish if you make such assumptions. It's been that kind of season!

Yep as disappointing as today was if Chelsea do go onto win it you cant really deny them the title, doubles over United, Liverpool & Arsenal all in the same season is unheard of in recent years to be honest, add that with impressive home wins against Spurs and Villa as well as the 7 goals scored against both Sunderland & Stoke at home you have to say they'd had a great season.

I'm convinced things will be different next season, hopefully we'll strengthen up front so we're not so reliant on Rooney, Nani will also hopefully take the latter part of this seasons form into next season and that will prove another massive goal threat for us. Arsenal will be better with Chamak was well and no doubt City will spend billions.

Chelsea wont win it next season IMO

Under Mourinho, one of the great strengths of Chelsea was grinding out those 1-0 results on a regular basis. Arguably won them the title against a superior United side who lost too many silly points against lower teams.

never been to a game like that today. Everyone around me was just chatting on or on their phones, two people missed Chelsea scoring.

I hope that something gets sorted in the next month for Liverpool, don't wanna be telling my kids 'I watched them when we won stuff'.....

Just an awful awful month......

Appologies - I never meant to disparage the EPL win, over 37 games you have deserved it, no shadow of a doubt (although I still think you didnt deserve the win against us @ SB this season lol) - all I was meaning was the way some teams just fell apart against you, which was truelly shocking of any side in the EPL imo

edit - Im still confused as to why anyone thinks Nani will be any more consistant for Utd than he has been this season (even the latter point of this season), even now he has only just outscored Valencia even though he has been in the team 3 seasons longer (and a widely disputed deflected goal against Valencia counts against him)

Valencia 49 apps- 7 goals.

Nani (played on the wrong side, ankle injury for 2 months)- 33 apps- 6 goals.

In no season has Nani EVER had 50 apps or been played consistently either on his natural side or with a constant run in the team.

You've seen the difference with Rooney when played in his proper position, the same (to a much lesser degree) will apply to Nani.

I still remember just about every united fan on here saying the same about how dissapointing ronaldo was as a show pony for him to then come good. Well everyone apart from Nokkon.

I think this year has been the worst football from the top 3 I can remember. None of them have looked that great to be fair. They all need to have a major re-think before next year. It's as though none of them wanted to win it. I still don't see it as over either. It should be, but this season none of them have consistency.

Love the sig JohnnyG, atleast we won't have to hear arguments this world cup about Lampard V Gerrard because Gerrard has been crap this year. Lampard has shown again, he can deliver year in year out.
