English Football [1st - 5th May 2010] **spoilers**

From what I hear on Radio 5, Fabianski has been a bit shaky, not really a surprise and from what Wenger has been saying he's made it appear as if Fabianski is going to be competing properly for the number 1 shirt next season which worries me a fair bit. He also said that he isn't really looking to strengthen the GK position.

Nani has won us two games in two weeks and you're still on his back??

Nice to see Arsenal ladies following on from the strong tradition laid out by Arsenal men :D

LOL well i dont see the Utd ladies winning anything...the ladies side of Arsenal have been absolutely dominant over the past few yrs much like Utd..winning pretty much anything and everything;).

Tbh hes been pretty good today...hasnt really made any **** ups other than throwing the ball away in trying to get Walcott free etc.

But saying that our defence doesnt look solid at all...

And there you have it...Blackburn score to tie it up 1-1.

Campbell heading the ball for a corner then our defence completely and utterly clueless...cant even ****ing clear the ball...Fabianki completely out of position as well....typical gutless Arsenal.

Any Sunday League manager in the country could have thought up Blackburn's offensive tactics today. It's unnerving that Sam Allardyce is ridiculously wealthy because of this.

Fabianski wasn't really at fault for the goal imo, he was shoved just before he went to punch the ball which messed up his contact, from then on in he did the right thing to protect the near post.

Sounded like a poor goal on the radio commentary. Seems like we've only got 2 or 3 players playing and the others have been a bit stale. Sounds like the Blackburn set piece has been a real problem for us as well, I hope that Wenger wasn't serious about the goalkeeper situation, you can't win anything with the keepers we have at the club.

Their set pieces haven't been a problem other than the fact that Fabianski has been elbowed a couple of times and shoved out of the way a few times too.

because Nani has never deserved that amount of appearances. He has always been incredibly inconsistant and no reason to believe anything will change next season

you also miss the point that Nani has been with the team four seasons now vs Valencia one and yet Nani has only just managed to outscore him, Nani also rarely tracks back unlike Valencia which is just as important as the attacking role of that position

From 33 apps Nani should be scoring a huge amount more than just 6 goals after being in the team this long to be worthy of his position in the team

Well done in ignoring every point I made there.

Yeh was going to mention that he was shoved....honestly thought the ref was going to blow the whistle but let it play....but if Wenger thinks we are going to win anything ever again with Almunia and Fabianski then i give up all hope tbh...surely he cant be that stupid or ignorant not to know that we need better gk's.

Fabianski has been largely good today, there are some absolute ***** in the ESPN 'studio' though that are seemingly making him a scapegoat. I will never know how ex-footballers can actually be so misinformed when it comes to football.

Obviously they only do these games for the paycheck and churn out a few cliches, though I feel consistently cheated by their idiocy.

I thought Wenger is shopping for a new one, and is refused to assure Almunia of his place next season. I never heard anything about him saying Fabianski is expected to compete for the top spot next season though... hilarious if it's true.

I'll try find the quotes in a bit but I read on Arseblog and on Gunnerblog a Wenger quote that said he has no guaranteed Almunia the number 1 shirt but he then said a week later that he is not looking to strengthen the GK position, which could mean one of two things.

1. He considers Fabianski as the number 1 for next season or;

2. He's lying and only said that to put Fabianski at ease for the next few games.

He's also been quoted as saying we have youth and now need some ready made players, which will be good to see who he goes for. The Chamakh deal is pretty much done we're just waiting for the window to open and he's ours on a free, he was desperate to come in the spring and Bordeaux were mad for not selling but I guess they thought he'd be an essential part of their Champions League campaign.

I want to see some proper players coming in though, wouldn't mind seeing people like Felipe Melo, Hazard, Kjaer, Lloris, Gignac, Rodallega, Hangeland, Milner maybe. Just players who aren't right on the fringe which is all we've really bought barring one or two signings for the past season or two. There was a decent piece I read the other day on Arsenal's finances which suggest at worst we have somewhere in the region of 30 million to spend this summer although that's not to say Wenger will spend. Frustrating.

But didn't Wenger also recently say that he enquired about Lloris and Lyon said no? That would say it's #2 to me.

Crafty Wenger. :p

This is a blessing to Arsenal fans imo. The more the need for a new goalkeeper and defenders is highlighted the more likely they are to get them.
