Great result for UTD. I thought rio played well. Our defence back to its best.

LOL at some of the Man United fans on here scraping the barrel for insults (albeit inaccurate/invalid ones). You seem way too proud for scraping a victory at home against a team that lost to Wigan less than two weeks ago.
Not only that, it clearly wasn’t a penalty (some lovely travelling there)…United really must be paying Grant Mitchell more that you paid the Ref in the United vs. Villa Carling Cup final. Not getting sent off for kicking a player in head twice in one tackle is beyond a joke among half a dozen other very dirty fouls (e.g. Rat face). The word ‘hypocrites’ springs to mind when some of you were saying Gerrard should have been banned for this game.
What’s that now 2 out of 3 of United’s last goals against Liverpool came from penalties that shouldn’t have been given? Not only that, you couldn’t even score the penalty first-time you had to get a scrappy rebound.
Both fans (mostly United though) need to stop claiming you achieved far more success than the other. The fact is it’s pretty much even. Most would agree United will probably make it to 19 titles before Liverpool whether that be this season or in the future, but so what, it was Liverpool who went steaming ahead in the first place. Go and win it something like 25 times and the Champions League another couple of times before you start making these claims, then you’ll have a fair point.
Not my intention to offend anyone…will not be reading this thread again so don’t waste time with your silly insults towards me.

I'm not defending Gerrard's performances overall this season; he's not be close to being good enough, however today wasn't that bad a performance and the game didn't really pass him by (all our chances came through him).
Regarding why he's been poor this season; as I said the other day, he's a sulker at the best of times so it's not that big a surprise but on top of that he's carrying a groin injury. I've said before that Gerrard's our captain only in name, previously it's been Carra as our leader on the pitch but more recently the likes of Masch and Reina.
You can criticise Rafa if you want but to blame Gerrard's position on his form wouldn't make much sense when you consider how well he played there in the previous 18 months to this season.
Regarding your point about big games passing Gerrard by; for a start it's not very often 'top' players put in massive performances against other big sides but when you consider the amount of times Gerrard's stepped up in big games and made the difference between us winning and losing it makes your point even harsher.

Well I guess if you consider winning and then scoring a penalty and also winning a free-kick which results in a player being sent off and leads to a goal as doing sod all to influence a game then yes he didn't show up for that game either.

Meant more from your team but I think you hit the nail on the head before about Gerrard captain in name only/ Thought Carragher was one of your better players.
