When is a referee in the premiership not poor ?, games with allot of hype before kickoff, and with allot of passion and fight in the game, 95% of the time, after these type of games, we are saying there was poor refereeing.

The type of play in these games don't make it easy.

1606: FULL-TIME Blackburn 0-1 Chelsea

1603: Didier Drogba goes close for Chelsea with a long-range effort.

1600: The match has started at Ewood Park, which sees 18-year-old Phil Jones marking Didier Drogba. Good luck.

wut :D

I'm more annoyed with Agger than Mascherano. He could've easily blocked him and given away a free kick rather than pull away completely.

Must admit that I am getting very tired of Agger trying to hit the clouds with the ball. I dont mind him having such a hobby of course, but I would really rather he practised it when he is "off-duty".

I'm not sure the Ref can send people off for character flaws. Just as well really otherwise they'd have to send off almost every premiership footballer at the start of each game :D

:p

He did enough in the game to warrant two yellows but kicking the penalty spot before Rooney took his penalty just sums him up. :p

Gerrard with another one of his captains performances :o

Gerrard's been getting a lot of stick for his performance today but in all honesty it wasn't that bad (compared to previous games anyway). Our goal came from his run and through ball, and the 2 Torres chances in the 2nd half came from him bursting into the box and crosses.

Agree about Johnson, it was like he was treading water towards the end of the game but it's understandable when he's just come back from a long lay off and playing 3 games in a week.

He clearly kicked the floor out of frustration and the fact he kicked the spot was purely accidental.

Indeedy, I laughed at this. Didn't really bother me at all, certainly not a yellow card.

Gerrard was almost non existant first half, much better second.

/shrug

I see similar behaviour from the big "stars" in most matches. (not the kicking the spot, but the enough to warrant two yellows). Lets face it, even Rooney is hardly famous for his even temper and long fuse :D

Some commentators call it passion or spark (most often if the player in question is of our nationality) , other commentators call it thuggery or "unsportsmanlike" behaviour (in particular if its done against us in an international game :D )

I've just become accustomed to it over the years and very sadly doubt anything will ever be done about it.

OT: What were dumb and dumber saying on Sky Sports along with Hoddle? Watched it at the pub and couldn't hear what hate filled lies they were spreading.

Didn't listen to much of it but a couple of the highlights were how well Alonso played last season at OT and how big a miss he will be today which was closely followed by Andy Gray praising Lucas' attacking performance vs Pompey.

I swear those 2 make it up as they go along.

They just need peter griffin to join them. CAn't wait for the sesaon to finish, uefa cup next year so we better like what we see in europe this season. Knowing our luck we win europa league and he stays another year:(

average performance (brilliant by Vidic - mainly for not getting sent off lol), fantastic result

Was kinda thinking it would be a really long (and painful) afternoon after the first 5 minutes - but penalty was deserved . was kinda thinking before that Wazza would fluff it, so really glad he got the rebound (hmmm does that count as "open play" out of interest)

Liverpool were nowhere in the 2nd half until about 82 minutes and then we had some shakey times - but the 3 points are what counts :D

uefa cup next year

It's certainly not looking good but just have a look at the remaining fixtures for us, City, Villa and Spurs against the top 8:

Potentially 8 points off City who've got: Utd, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs and Villa still to play.

Potentially 7 off Spurs who've got: Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and City still to play.

Potentially 5 off Villa who've got: Chelsea, City and Everton still to play.

We've just got Chelsea.

It's far from being in our own hands but if we can pick up 18-19 more points then it might be enough to sneak 4th.

tbh it wasn't that medicore or good either. He is not getting the moniker of Captain Awol(Mainly from his own fans) for nothing. Too many big games pass him by. Either he can't give a flying fig or Rafa just plainly plays him in the wrong position and we all know were not allowed to criticise Rafa now don't we.
