English League & F.A. Cup Football [19th - 24th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

The linesman, and the ref judged the foul to have continued in to the box.

You're not going to change the game by complaining.

Liverpool weren't that bad, had they not of missed a couple of chances they could have gotten something out of the game.

It's easy to blame it on a bad decision and not the team.

I'm not complaining at all. We had another 80 minutes to find our winner, but just couldnt put it together. Doesnt change the fact that the foul ended outside the box, but as I've said earlier, Mascherano should've never given the ref a decision to make.

nothing in that is correct in line with the laws of the game

its is the laws of the game in this sort in instance that I am questioning, Newcastle reallitically gained nothing from the sending off as it was so late in the game, what I am suggesting that in this sort of instance maybe the rules should allow for a penalty to be awarded

The only problem that brings is that for a penalty to be awarded, the offence must be committed in the penalty area. Where do you draw the line for expanding the rules of the game for deliberate fouls in goal scoring opportunities outside the box ?

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, ref's seem to struggle with a simple set of rules now so god knows what it would be like if they added more in.

Still don't know why video is not used in games. Why the resistance to it? And more rules for people that strugle with the ones they've got is not a good idea

Giving penalties for fouls outside the box will open a whole can of worms and like you say where do you draw the line?

I mentioned this last season; imo when a player cynically brings somebody down to deny a clear and obvious goalscoring opportunity then a more suitable punishment would be a 3 game ban rather than the 1 game that is handed out now. As it stands taking a red card and a 1 game ban in some situations is more than worth it if it helps you win a game etc.

Hmmm got a free bet with Paddy Power, currently looking at the Leeds game. Is there any chance of Leeds making a comeback?

at least that is failry clear, in this incident he did not continue holding inside the box so it is a free kick and then there is the question of obvious goalscoring chance

Ok so it shouldn't have been a penalty but a red card. :D

He was through on goal, Carragher too far away to do anything so that is an obvious goalscoring chance.

From that picture, I'd probably agree with that actually. Never a penalty, but easily could've been a red by the letter of the law. Still cant understand why Agger didnt try and come across.
