English League Football [6th - 10th Feb 2010] **spoilers**

Thought we were playing Burnley or the like with the amount of players they kept behind the ball all game. :(

Can't imagine it was a good game for Villa fans to watch?

We should have had 2 penalties there but zero chance of getting them with that ref. Crouch pretty much useless and Defoe again wastefull as usual.

Bale is really impressing me since his return, great player when he's fit :)

So frustrating. Got sick of Corluka and Crouch in the end, wasting attacking moves.

Bentley turned in another fantastic performance. Just had no one to get onto the end of his crosses. Corluka aimed every one of his crosses to Crouch at the back post.

Totally agree. Have always rated Bale, just glad he is making the most of his time in the starting 11 to shine.
Really do not rate Crouch. Have no idea why Harry bought him

Yeah why was that  - unless the ball was going central it appeared that Crouch/Defoe never were anywhere in a position to accept a ball/cross from wide in the box. Some of Bentleys crosses just needed a shin or anything to go in...

ps3ud0

Looking at today I don't think Villa are really in it for 4th spot. We should have won but somehow were just missing that final ball. Only savid grace is Citeh lost.

Harry has to take the blame for some of that. Why get Eidur in if you aren't going to play him? We've still got Pav who we obviously still rate as we've turned down £10m bids for him.... wtf are they playing at??

Because Crouch has inverted his Y axis, meaning he ducks when he means to jump. Classic n00b error.

And neither of them are particularly good at finding space when there is more than the back 4 around them. This is why Berbatov was so good for us. Could always find space and control the ball well.

I think there's two reasons why he wasn't brought on.

1. It would have upset the momentum of the game, which was all us around substitution time.

2. He hasn't played in ages. In a game like this, we can't afford to take that sort of risk.

Although, in hindsight, we should have.

Only remember one incident, the Defoe thing, replay clearly shows he went down of his own accord.

POor game, just like the Pool game, some really incredibly dull football on show today.

As for City, people having a go at Hughes but in a huge number of games compared to Mancini he lost to Utd, and Spurs, Spurs was a bad loss but amid rumours of him being fired and quite a lot of defensive injuries, the Utd game was a damn good game, that was close.

Mancini has already lost the same amount of games, except to Everton, and Hull. Hughes was forced to drop Ireland and went with a more defensive De Jong and Barry line up while he was out, Mancini seems to be sticking with an overly defensive central mid which is costing them, Barry has been completely awful for most of this season, the last 4-5 games he's been especially crap.

I do hope Mancini is crap, City made a very poor choice getting rid of a manager who, was right on target for what they thought they could do. They had agreed a 70point target for this season, he was on 32 points when fired, with one game to go to the half way point.

So far I've seen nothing to suggest Mancini is a good manager, poor team choice, poor formation, stupid setup, ineffective subs in all but one ridiculous starting lineup in cup against crap opposition and thinks Bridge is a great left back.

As for Rooney scoring his total faster than Ronaldo scored his...... the fact that its close, a striker vs a midfielder really tells you not how good Rooney is, but how good Ronaldo is. Your average midfielder doesn't score anywhere near your average striker, Rooney getting to a goal total faster than a midfielder, isn't impressive.

ronaldo also took all penalties and scored a good chunk from free kicks, he also pretty much played as a striker.

Yet, he wasn't a striker, and he was only a very high goal scorer for 2-3 years at Utd, Rooney hasn't come close to matching Ronaldo's last 2 years scoring rate, but Ronaldo started off VERY slowly, at that stage he was also nothing like a striker, and IIRC, he was only the first choice penalty taker for the last couple years aswell. Isn't Rooney the penalty taker now and hasn't he scored quite a few penalties in previous seasons aswell.

Simple fact is really that the comparison means nothing, would it be surprising to see RVP hit his 100th goal, before Fabregas, Arshavin, Pires, etc, etc, not even slightly.

From wiki, Ronaldo in his first 3 years scored 4/5/9 in the league, while Rooney, as a striker got 11/16/14. Like I said, its a very unimpressive stat trying to give the impression that Rooney is some wonder goal scorer. If you only take into account Ronaldos 3 outstanding years, his stats blow Rooney away completely.
