English League Football [6th - 10th Feb 2010] **spoilers**

everyone can see the areas in the squad in which they are short

Everywhere. A team full of short players. I don't see why they are crossing the ball in the air today, or with corners too, keep it on the ground and they can outpass any team in the league. Arsenal aren't physical enough and that is their biggest weakness.

Not quite what I was getting at originally but you're right, I agree.

Its because Wenger is stubborn, he wants to prove his way works. Dont think he really wants to cave in and admit he is wrong.

He might as well though, because everyone can see that his methods simply do not work.

It takes a bigger man to admit you're wrong than to stick being stubborn year on end.

Well, his (Wenger's) methods used to work - Arsenal have one premiership titles and hold a record for being unbeaten in the league, for the most number of games.

One could argue that his methods still work, given that his team are still in the top 3, after spending very little money, in comparison to the teams which are sitting above Arsenal in the table.

There are many teams in the league(s), who would love to be in the position that Arsenal are in today.

Incredibly naive play from Arsenal and towards the end of that half you could see that they'd just ran out of idea's

As has been said already it's Men against Boys out there

Arsene needs to put the fear of god into them at Half Time for Arsenal to amount any kind of challenge to Chelsea in the second half

As I said last week though United and Chelsea are just so far superior to Arsenal it's quite frightening

Like admiring history? - just because it worked then doesnt mean it will now (and given the pretty big gap between the teams last few seasons) , Arsenal are a good team, but they need serious investment to become a great team , not just buying promise or players like Gallas / Silvestre that are on their way down

Absolutely pathetic, and yes, Song at fault for BOTH goals. He's the DM yet spends half his time thinking he's Fabregas, despite getting in THEIR box multiple times he's yet to contribute anything at all. First goal, the classic Song weakness, stand behind him, he simply never, ever checks whats going on behind him, awful marking for corners, pathetic, standing completely still without checking anyone around him or looking for his marker. LIkewise Diaby was standing completely still with no movement and got in Verm's way as Verm tried to cover the run of Terry, Diaby oblivious to whats going on around him as per usual.

2nd goal, Song, playing as our Attacking central mid again, loses the ball deep in Chelsea half, we're caught on the break with no sign of Song anywhere. Not 2 minutes after we conceded and he again runs forward way out of position, contributing nothing but leaving a huge gap in midfield.

Walcott, where to start, I don't think theres anyone on staff at Arsenal that wouldn't have put in a better first half, and I said staff, not playing staff. Tea lady, to Pat rice, no one would have done worse. However Eboue and Bendtner are both far better on the wing than Walcott, whose yet to beat a man, control the ball, make a useful pass or help out defensively(ok, once).

Sagna as per usual for the past 2 seasons hasn't once tried to beat a man, he gets the ball and stops, tries to cross, but can't cross. Again Eboue would try the overlap, beat his man and will get some decent crosses in, aswell as actually try to use his pace, also better defensively.

SO again, 4-5-1, useless, Walcott, useless, Song, Diaby, useless, ARshavin as lone striker, utterly stupid idea and Sagna no where near the player he was in his first season. Almunia should have done more for the 2nd goal , Clichy looking far better than his previous two games, but still not there yet. If we had REAL cover at centre back, and some rotation we'd have a form centre back to put in and let Gallas cover at left back, where he's WAY more than capable and would offer us a great back line in strength against a VERY big team, but no.

As BFCTom said, it takes a bigger man to admit your mistakes, Song, Diaby, Walcott, Denilson, 4-5-1, Silvestre, all HUGE mistakes.

Yet again I'll say Wilshire would have offered more than Walcott today, defensively and offensively, been learning, have a chance to improve, Walcott is dead weight, as good as he'll ever be, which is, barely good enough for non league quality football.

They are still in the top 3 and many teams would love to be in that position.

With an injection of new players, I'm sure Arsenal would do almost as well as they did a decade or so ago.

Clichy shouldn't be allowed on a football pitch, why does he run towards Lampard and leave Drogba all the space in the world to get into the box?

Wasn't Walcott supposed to be the saviour of English football all those years ago, when he was sent to the World Cup as a teenager, to prepare him for future World Cups?

Has he gone downhill or stagnated?

I'm genuinely curious because when he first moved to Arsenal as a 16 year old (?), he was touted as some sort of wonderkid...the likes of which England has never seen (including Rooney).

Arsenal haven't played badly which is the worst thing about this game so far for us. A set piece, and a defensive mix up for the second goal. The first goal is something you'd expect us to concede considering our shaky keeper and weakness at defending set pieces. But the second goal, Vermaelen was at fault if you ask me. Clichy was on the outside chasing Drogba down and Vermaelen should have stayed in the middle next to Gallas, instead of cutting across and allowing Drogba to come inside. Stupid play.

Good save from Cech to stop Arshavin scoring but Arshavin really should be trying to get them in the top corner from that range and angle. I'll just reiterate that I don't think Arsenal have played bad, but that Chelsea have taken their chances when they've came along and as Andy Gray said, it's not possession that's important, it's what you do with the ball when you have it that matters.

BBC seems to be suggesting that Clichy was at fault with both goals?

Well for the first goal Song loses Drogba and for some reason Clichy runs off his line towards where Terry gets his head on it. You don't run off your line until the ball is out of your area.

As said above, for the second he just runs towards Lampard and leaves a good 10+ yards of space for Lampard to run the ball through to Drogba..
