English League Football [6th - 10th Feb 2010] **spoilers**

Not really my point, more that Arsenal will fall into the chasing pack making it 5 teams fighting for 2 spots.

but they still have to lose 2 games or something (relative to 4/5/6) before that is a possibility, and despite their shot shy nature against Chelsea and maybe a little against Utd, Arshavin and Fab will still score against lesser teams

Well, that's what I said. If they lose to Liverpool on wednesday, Liverpool will only be two points behind them and if Man City win their relative games in hand then they'll be ahead of them. No guarantee it'll happen, but they could well get dragged into that chasing pack rather than the leading 3.

Arsenal won't slip down the table, they're better than the other teams in that area, just not as good as Chelsea/Man Utd.

Hmm ok.

I'm getting rather tired of some of Harry Redknapps managerial choices.. Not being funny 'Arry, but what with City loosing, Liverpool up our backside and a chance to put some daylight with Villa both teams seemed content with being locked into the draw. Ii would have liked to have seen a bit more balls tbh..

I don't understand why you got Gudjohnsen on the bench when the side clearly can't make the break. If things don't work after and hour, then change it surely... I would have preferred to have seen us go for it and loose than to sit back and do nothing for yet another point. For me it was two points lost - again and 4th spot surely out of our reach now.

I don't, I quite enjoy reading DM's posts / rants / love for certain Arsenal players.

Same here, some of his posts do go on a bit but he does make some good points at times...very rarely though:p.

Hopefully that wont happen but at this moment our performances dont give me much confidence..we struggled to beat Villa the other week and im not looking forward to Wed when we play Liverspuds...could end up with a draw or a loss in a worst case scenario. We got our backsides handed to us by Man Utd, who arent as strong as they used to be but yet have this ability to run rings around us....against Chelski i thought we played better but were unlucky not to have scored a few goals.

As for Man Utd and Chelski??...of course they are a cut above Arsenal but even as much as it pains me to say this...Chelski are slightly above Man Utd due to their squad depth....

No team in the world would breeze past Villa/Man Utd/Chelsea, especially all in a row too. I wouldn't be too worried about drawing away to Villa, good result in my book.

It was an ok result but if we had won that game then i guess the losses against Utd and Chelski wouldnt have hurt our title tilt so much.

Anyhow can only hope that Man Utd and Chelski drop points against other side and we sneak back into the race...far fetched but not impossible especially if we go on a good run...definitely need to beat Liverspuds on Wed...a must win game if we want to still be in with a shout.

I guess we'll see if that's true or not, City (h), Arsenal (a), Villa (a) all in a row for us, not to mentioned followed by Milan and Everton away

Watch this space ;)

Don't think Arsenal will sneak back into the race but I think come the end of the season they'll only be about 5 points from the top 2.

Something no one seems to have mentioned, which I thought would be all over the press, was out best two chances can from long ball football :p

One uber long pass to Nasri, and Fabregas's world class ball into Arshavin, which was long ball ish.

Its simply not true we played better against Chelsea though, we played a different team with a different style. they ALLOWED us to dominate the possesion, as that encouraged us forward and caused Song, amongst others, to venture further forward than they should have.

We didn't dominate their midfield, runs rings around their midfield or win the ball off their midfield, at all. When they lost the ball in an attack they simply retreated and allowed us to get within 30 yards before winning the ball back.

We didn't contest the midfield better, they simply decided not to fight us there.

AS I've said, another goal yesterday wouldn't have done anything, we'd have had to score, what 6-7 extra goals across the 4 games simply to draw these games, its conceding thats been our problem, not goal scoring.

EDIT:- Just checked across the 4 games we'd have needed 8 goals more simply to draw level, which is over 10% more goals scored so far this season, thats 10% more than both Utd and Chelsea also. We'd have needed to score 12 more goals to win all 4 games, thats 20% more goals scored this season.

Thats ludicrous, RVP would NOT have yielded us 8 goals in 4 games, nor 12 goals, no striker in the world would have made that amount of difference. However, had we conceded 8 less goals, we'd have drawn all 4 games, however we'd still have conceded more than both Utd and Chelsea, not that many more though.

The problem is goals conceded, this is the second season we're neck a neck with both of them for scoring, and yet have conceded massively more. We added Arshavin last year when we were scoring fine and conceding left right and centre, he scored 6 and made entirely no difference to the team with those 6 goals. Had we added a keeper and DM last year or summer, or a couple weeks ago, we could completely turn the team around into a cup and title winning side.

I really can't see how anyone can look at our scoring record and think its a problem, and see our conceded stats for a few years and not see the clear difference between us and the top sides.

Think of it this way, if Chelsea hadn't been able to score against us so damn easily, their tactic of sitting back in their own half and hitting us on the counter wouldn't have worked. They would have had to push forwards further, leaving a less solid defence, making it easier for us to attack. Its our very vunerability in defence that let them sit back so much to completely nulify our offence. A stronger defence leads to an easier time for our offence. Just like a strong offence that keeps the ball more, helps our defence, you need both working to be a strong team, one clearly isn't, its not our offence.

I agree.

Yesterday we gifted a goal (maybe even two) to a team who haven't lost at home for yonks with schoolboy errors. Its not even as though we didn't have other options considering how Clichy is performing.

As an aside, I think Arshavin should have done better with the chances he had when both games were still there for the taking.

Geezus just watching SSN and in the last 9 games Arsenal have won none...drawn one and lost eight games...scored 5 goals but conceded over 20 goals:eek:.

Yeh that sort of run is absolutely dire...our offense isnt clicking ie scoring and our defence has gone to absolute pots....that sort of run wont win us sweet FA in all honesty.

FFS Wenger get your finger out of your arse and fix these ****ing problems!!!
